The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which kicked off on June 1, promises to be an exhilarating event. This ninth edition of the tournament marks a historic debut in the USA, aiming to broaden the sport’s appeal in the world’s most advanced economy. The excitement is palpable as teams from around the globe compete for the coveted title.
The tournament will feature 20 teams, divided into four groups of five teams each. Every team will play one match against each of the other teams in their group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight stage.

In the Super Eight stage, the advancing teams will be split into two groups of four. The top two teams from these groups will then progress to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals will determine which teams will compete in the final match, culminating in a thrilling contest to determine the world champion.
Leading the charge in the most runs list is Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who has scored 156 runs in just two matches with an impressive strike rate of 154.45. His highest score of 80 highlights his ability to dominate the bowling attack.
Arone Jones of the USA has made a significant mark with 130 runs in two matches. With a strike rate of 196.96 and hitting 12 sixes, his highest score of 94* showcases his explosive batting prowess.
Another Afghan star, Ibrahim Jadran, has accumulated 114 runs in two matches with a strike rate of 131.30, placing him third in the top run-scorers list.
AGS Gous, another standout American batter, has scored 100 runs in two matches with a strike rate of 138.80, showing his consistency and skill.
Canadian batter NP Kirton rounds off the top five with 100 runs in two matches and a strike rate of 151.51, making his presence felt in the tournament.

Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooq has consolidated his position at the top of the highest wicket-takers list with nine wickets in just two matches, including a crucial four-wicket haul against New Zealand.
West Indian all-rounder AJ Hosein is second with six wickets in two matches. His five-wicket haul against Uganda was phenomenal, bundling Uganda out for just 39 runs.
South African speedster Anrich Nortje has silenced critics with his phenomenal performance, taking six wickets in two matches and securing the third spot on the list.
Afghanistan’s skipper, Rashid Khan, has led by example with six wickets in two matches, demonstrating his exceptional skills and leadership.
Mehran Khan from Oman has also claimed six wickets in two matches, showcasing his talent and contributing significantly to his team’s efforts.
