It hosted its first international match on 6 November 2018, a T20I between India and the West Indies.

The stadium is designed so that no shadow ever falls on the nine pitches before 4:45 PM, even on the shortest day of the year as per an independent survey. It also has eight pitches on the practice area and an indoor cricket center that has dwelling facilities for players.
