New Zealand, seaming conditions, a new pitch—there was nothing not to appreciate if you are Jasprit Bumrah. With Rohit Sharma's 60 runs knock India had already given New Zealand a challenging terrain target of 164. But New Zealand is strong at daunting home Indian conditions, so Rohit distributed Bumrah's overs across the innings. In the second over, Bumrah took a maiden over wicket of Martin Guptill. He returned in the 12th and surrendered only six runs.
Then, in the fourteenth, another wicket got scalped in the form of Daryll Mitchell and three runs. Finally, in the 19th, Tim Southee was knocked out, and the pursuit was stifled with only three runs conceded. In the end, it's India who have won by seven runs. As his game-changing play implies, he was awarded the Player of the Match for India's seven runs triumphant.
