The Women's Asia Cup has been under the fan's radar for quite a long time, as it displays an intense battle between the Asian powerhouses of the sport. In addition, it acts as a gateway for the new and emerging teams to showcase their cricketing skills and how they can be promising in the coming days of the sport. 

The recently concluded 2024 T20I format of the Asia Cup has seen Sri Lanka triumph a win against the seven-time Asia Cup champions India, leading them to win their first-ever coveted Women's Asia Cup title. Here's a list of the Women's Asia Cup winners and how many times they have scalped the title.

2004: India

The Women's Asia Cup's inaugural edition happened way back in 2004, through an ODI bilateral series against Sri Lanka. In the five matches, India obtained a convincing win of 5-0 in the series to clinch their first title.

Under the captaincy of Mamatha Maben, they have Anjum Chopra sealing the Player of the Tournament award thanks to her stellar performance. 

2005-2006: India

The inaugural champions, India, have continued the ritual of winning the Asia Cup tournaments by clinching their second title against Sri Lanka, yet again. Held on the grounds of Karachi, Pakistan, as a tri-series between India, Sri Lanka & Pakistan, the inaugural champions won against the Lankan Lions by 97 runs in the ODI format of the tournament.

This was the first-ever title under the captaincy of Mithali Raj, who also went on to win the Player of the Match of the second edition Women's Asia Cup final. 

2006: India

India has won their third consecutive Women's Asia Cup title in yet another tri-series format between them, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, with the same opposition as Sri Lanka, where they have by eight wickets under the captaincy of Mithali Raj.

India's Sunetra Paranjpe was adjourned the Player of the Match, and Sri Lanka's Dedunu Silva won the Player of the Tournament. 

2008: India

As a continuation of the previous three editions finals of the tournament, India won their fourth consecutive title against Sri Lanka by 177 runs in the 2008 Women's Asia Cup edition at Kurunegala, Sri Lanka.

With Mithali Raj as the captain, the tournament has seen Asha Rawat clinching the Player of the Match title and Rumeli Dhar taking away the Player of the Series Tournament. 

2012: India

With the tournament's format changing from the ODI to T20I format, the 2012 Women's Asia Cup held in China had eight teams segregated into two groups. The final clash between India and Pakistan was intense and intriguing. The Indian Women's arsenal was on a carnage of a stroll on the Asian space.

This tournament led the Women in Blue to win their fifth consecutive Asia Cup title, defeating Pakistan by 18 runs. India's Punam Raut was adjourned as the Player of the Match, and Pakistan's Bismah Maroof was the Player of the Tournament.

2016: India

After a long four-year gap, the sixth edition of the Women's Asia Cup was held in Thailand in a round-robin format of six teams. As it implies, India won their sixth consecutive title against a formidable Pakistan, almost pulling off a 2012 edition repeat. 

Winning by 17 runs, India's captain, Mithali Raj, was adjourned the Player of the Match and the Player of the Tournament.

2018: Bangladesh

The seventh edition of the Women's Asia Cup happened in Malaysia and followed a six-team round-robin format. This time, the 2018 edition saw a new winner in the Asian women's cricket space, Bangladesh. With India making it to their seventh consecutive final, they fell short against the Bangla Tigers by three wickets.

Bangladesh's Rumana Ahmed was the Player of the Match, thanks to her impeccable allrounder's performance. India's captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, was awarded the Player of the Tournament. 

2022: India

After a forgettable 2018 Women's Asia Cup stint, India returned to its winning ways in the eighth edition of the tournament. Held in Bangladesh, with a seven-team round-robin format, India was up against Sri Lanka, where they won their seventh Women's Asia Cup title by an easy eight wickets.

India's Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma were awarded the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards, respectively. 

2024: Sri Lanka

The recently concluded 2024 Women's Asia Cup edition was an intense battle of teams unleashing the best of their game. The finals were up against India & Sri Lanka post a two groups and eight-team clashes. By meeting again for the sixth time and India winning all of them, the Lankan Lions were eager to turn the tables.

After an intense matchup between both sides, Sri Lanka emerged victorious by eight wickets, ending a long hiatus of losing the tournament's finals on their home ground amongst the Sri Lankan fans. Harshitha Madavi and Chamari Atapattu of Sri Lanka were awarded the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards.
