A Flamboyant 57-run-knock Ruturaj Gaikwad and a splendid four-wicket haul from Moeen Ali Helped Chennai Super Kings defeat Lucknow Super Giants by a margin of 12 runs in the sixth match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the famous MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Speaking about the game of CSK and LSG, Lucknow won the toss and opted to field first. CSK openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway took the LSG bowlers to the cleaners, as they registered their third-highest powerplay score of 79 in six overs. Meanwhile, Ruturaj reached his 12th IPL fifty inside the powerplay. Ravi Bishnoi drew the first blood, by picking the wicket of Gaikwad and Mark Wood then stuck in the next over as he sent back Conway for 47. Cameos from Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, and MS Dhoni in the second half of the game helped CSK post a massive total of 217/7.

For LSG, Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers for his spell of 3/28 in four overs. Mark Wood picked up three wickets but was expensive as he leaked 49 runs in his four overs. Avesh Khan registered his 50th IPL wicket but he was expensive too with economy of 13. In response to 217, Kyle Mayers along with support from KL Rahul toyed with the CSK bowlers for fun in the powerplay as they reached 80 runs in the powerplay. Kyle Mayers reached to his second consecutive fifties of the tournament in just 21 balls. Bens Stokes and Tushar Deshpande were taken to cleaners as they conceded 18 runs in their respective first over. Moeen Ali and Mitchell Santner brought the match back to CSK with a splendid bowling display as they picked five wickets between them, Moeen taking 4 and Santner took one wicket. The lower-middle order showed some intent in the chase, but it just reduce the margin of defeat, as LSG lost the match by 12 runs
