On Thursday evening in Hobart, the Hobart Hurricanes will face the Melbourne Stars in match 17 of the 2023-24 Big Bash League. In Match 13, the Hurricanes defeated the Melbourne Renegades to earn their first victory of the tournament. The Stars also won their most recent match, against the Sydney Sixers on Boxing Day. Hobart Hurricanes had been in poor form before crossing the finish line with 6 balls and 6 wickets remaining against Melbourne Renegades in their final pre-Christmas match. Now that they’re back home, they’re hoping to make it two in a row. On Boxing Day, the Melbourne Stars got their season started with a surprise win over the impressive Sydney Sixers. It was an excellent team performance, and they will now travel to Hobart believing they can beat anyone.

This is a good batting wicket that appears to have a bit more pace than in previous seasons during this year’s BBL. A par score will be 190 or higher.
Although much of the heavy cloud from earlier in the day will have dissipated, cloudy spells will persist through Thursday evening. With temperatures in the mid-to-upper teens, there is no chance of rain.

Both the Hurricanes and the Stars, who enter this game in sixth and seventh place, will be looking for a mid-table spot ahead of this game, knowing that they need to string two or three wins together to have a real chance of progressing. The Stars cannot be ruled out with Haris Rauf and Glenn Maxwell in their lineup, but we like the look of the Hobart Hurricanes’ batting lineup and are backing them to win. Considering the team combination, Hobart Hurricanes is expected to win this match.
