According to Harbhajan Singh, Ajinkya Rahane may be in even more trouble if he fails to score runs in upcoming India vs New Zealand Test series.
Singh stated that while it is good to see players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rahul Dravid backing him, he remains on thin ice as there are still a number of players waiting in line for their chance. Additionally, Ajinkya Rahane was a question mark; we didn’t know if he’d be part of the squad. However, he has been assigned the captaincy (for the first Test). He averaged only 19.58 in his last 11 matches. He is a superb cricketer, but his performance has not quite backed him up. Rahane should be a part of the team too according to Rohit, Virat, and Rahul Dravid.

It will be India’s first meeting with New Zealand since the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) in June 2021. Furthermore, this will be India’s first home series in about 8-9 months. Indian cricket must start good and progress by playing good cricket, Harbhajan said. “The England tour went very well, but the final Test match did not take place. Following that, many T20 matches were played, including IPL [2021] and the T20 World Cup. We are playing our first home Test match since last year (after a long time).

Because New Zealand is a strong team in India as well, it will be important to see how India starts the game. ‘I believe that good cricket pitches will be available in India and the Indian team will be able to progress by playing good cricket,’ concluded Harbhajan.
