After an entertaining IT20 series concluded on Tuesday evening in Indore, India and South Africa begin a three-match ODI series in Lucknow on Thursday afternoon. This is the second time the sides have met in an ODI series this year after playing three games in South Africa in January. Under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan, India has continued to play good cricket and win ODIs in recent months. They will be very confident in their home conditions. South Africa put in an excellent display in the final IT20 on Tuesday and has some white ball batters in excellent form. They will play in an aggressive manner with the bat.

Even though South Africa won Tuesday’s T20I and the last three ODIs between the teams, we are backing India to win this opening match of the series. The strength in depth in Indian cricket is immense and, even though they will not put out their strongest XI, it will take a big performance from South Africa to win this clash. With the T20 World Cup just around the corner, this series will be another entertaining example of white ball international cricket. Considering the team combination, India is expected to win this match.
