KKR vs RR: KKR are struggling with five defeats in a row after giving a promising start to the IPL. Few games into the season they looked like potential title contenders with an explosive line-up and a balanced bowling line-up which had two spinners that could choke any team. Now though, KKR are struggling, Varun Chakravarthy is off rhythm and the batting line-up is in disarray with Venkatesh Iyer constantly shuffled around in a bid to find form.
The Rajasthan Royals gave Mumbai their first win but are still in a strong position this season. They have a wonderful line-up, look very promising and are still very balanced. They have defended well and despite scoring only 158 in the previous game, Rajasthan looked set for a win as they held the pressure on Mumbai for most of the game, until heroics from Suryakumar Yadav and Tim David changed the momentum for them.
Match: KKR vs RR
Date: 2nd May 2022
Time: 7:30 PM IST
Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
The weather is clear and moderate for the KKR vs RR game with no chance of rain.
The Wankhede surface is slowing down and batting first will be better on what could be a sluggish track. The dew has been unpredictable, but even if it appears, batting first could be a better option on what is turning out to be a sluggish Wankhede track.
Venkatesh Iyer, Aaron Finch, Shreyas Iyer (capt), Nitish Rana, Sheldon Jackson (wk), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy.
Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (capt, wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Daryl Mitchell/Navdeep Saini, Riyan Parag, R Ashwin, Trent Boult/Jimmy Neesham, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen
Nitish Rana
The inconsistent Nitish Rana finally found some form in the previous game with a nice half-century while his team collapsed around him. He is a talented batter and has been a key member in the KKR side over the years. With Nitish Rana finally founding some runs, he will be a central force in the upcoming games as KKR look to break their losing streak.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin provided a strong cameo against the Mumbai Indians, helping Rajasthan gain confidence their batting line-up looking at the depth in offer. His bowling has also been good this season, and Ashwin is silently making himself a valuable and indispensable member of the line-up.
KKR are struggling to win games after a strong start while RR are looking very balanced despite the recent defeat. On paper, and based on recent performances, Rajasthan Royals have a strong advantage, unless one of KKR’s superstars have a good day to turn the tables on the Royals.
Match Prediction: RR will win the match.
