After Rajasthan Royals’ complete 9-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, opening player Jos Buttler was seen as guilty for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct. Buttler, subsequently was fined 10% of his match-charge, an assertion from the Indian Head Association affirmed. Although it is not entirely clear what caused Buttler to receive the penalty, it is likely that the decision was made in response to the English opener’s reaction to his run-out early in the game.
“Mr. Buttler admitted to the Level 1 Offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,”
the IPL release read.
After Yuzvendra Chahal became the all-time leading wicket-taker, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the fastest fifty in tournament history as Rajasthan Royals cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday to revive their playoff hopes.
On a day when KKR batters struggled to time the ball, 21-year-old Jaiswal showed the way by scoring the fastest fifty in the history of the IPL in just 13 balls, surpassing the previous record held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins (14 balls each). Chahal became the IPL’s leading wicket-taker before completing a brilliant 4/25 at the Eden Gardens.
Jaiswal’s modest chase ended two runs short of his century (98 from 47 balls), a score that included 12 fours and five sixes as RR soared to victory in 13.1 overs.
