During Friday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match, Ravindra Jadeja of Chennai Super Kings and Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad engaged in a mini-battle. The conflict began when Klaasen blocked Jadeja’s attempt to catch Mayank Agarwal’s catch.
A sharp stumping effort from wicketkeeper MS Dhoni enabled Jadeja to eventually defeat Agarwal not long after. However, the duel between him and the SunRisers wicket-keeper batter did not end there.
However, the CSK all-rounder was unable to get his hands on the ball because Klaasen was still in place at the non-striker’s end. In any case, Jadeja spread the word.
Jadeja dismissed Agarwal in the same over, so the missed opportunity didn’t cost much.
In his four overs, Jadeja was CSK’s star performer against SRH, taking three wickets for just 22 runs. As Chennai Super Kings limited Sunrisers Hyderabad to 134/7 in 20 overs, the veteran all-rounder took three crucial wickets.
With figures of 3/22 in his four overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Jadeja became the team’s most successful bowler, dismissing opener Abhishek Sharma (34), Rahul Tripathi (21), and Mayank Agarwal (22).
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of CSK, decided to bowl after winning the toss and fielding the same team that had defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight runs in the previous match.
This season, the Sunrisers are in the bottom half of the points table because they have struggled with consistency.
