Former Indian captain MS Dhoni leads the arsenal of Chennai Super Kings. CSK also holds the record for the most amount of grand finale appearances. N Srinivasan, the CEO of India Cements, owns the franchise.

Delhi Capitals- Parth Jindal (JSW)

The Delhi Capitals are a joint venture between the GMR and JSW groups. Previously, the team was known as the Delhi Daredevils. But, two years ago, it got renamed to Delhi Capitals after a 50% stake in the team was sold to the JSW group. Shreyas Iyer led the Delhi Capitals to their first-ever finals in 2020. Parth Jindal of the JSW group is the IPL’s youngest franchise owner (31 years). 

Gujarat Titans- CVC Capital

CVC Capitals owns the most recent addition to the IPL club roster, the defending champions, Gujarat Titans. CVC Capitals won the bidding battle with a colossal price of INR 5625 crores (over 692 million USD). CVC Capitals’ bid was 160% more than BCCI’s starting price for the IPL club. Gujarat Titans won the IPL 2022 title thanks to Hardik Pandya’s leadership. The squad triumphed by seven wickets, making them the first debut team to win the IPL finals.

Kolkata Knight Riders- Shah Rukh Khan & Juhi Chawla (Red Chillies Entertainment & Mehta Group)

Kolkata Knight Riders are one of the league’s most successful teams. Gautam Gambhir has led the squad to two victories, in 2012 and 2014. Red Chillies Entertainment and the Mehta group own KKR (Red Chillies owns the majority stake).

Lucknow Super Giants- RP Sanjiv Goenka

After having a dreamy start to their IPL stint, the Goenka-backed Lucknow Super Giants aim to continue the same in the upcoming edition.

The new Indian Premier League franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, is owned by Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group.

For the creation of the new team, Sanjiv Goenka (RPSG Group) won the bid for a whooping INR 7090 crore. The RPSG proposal was almost 250% more than BCCI’s base price for the IPL franchise of INR 2000 Crores. Interestingly, Goenka Group has made a humongous bid for the new IPL 2022 team at INR 7,000 crores. 

Mumbai Indians- Mukesh Ambani (Reliance Industries Limited)

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the tournament’s history, having won the title five times. Their achievement is credited to their competent management and flawless skipper, Rohit Sharma.

Mr. Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, is the owner of the Mumbai Indians. It is no surprise that the club owner in 2020 is also the world’s second richest sports team owner, trailing only Steve Balmer, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA.

Punjab Kings- Preity Zinta

Ness Wadia of the Wadia Group and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta are the owners of the Punjab Kings franchise. Mohit Burman and Karan Paul are also partners in the franchise. On the other hand, Preity Zinta is the face of Punjab Kings. We can see Preity Zinta waving the team’s flag from the stands whenever we think about the IPL squad. The owner of the Punjab Kings is tremendously enthusiastic about the squad. She feels that she is the team’s good luck. Thus she wants to be present at every match. Preity Zinta has a net worth of around $15 million US dollars.

Rajasthan Royals- Manoj Balade (British Asian Trust)

This IPL arsenal Jaipur has one of the most well-known IPL team owners. The franchise’s owners and team are known as the IPL’s Moneyball club. In 2008, the squad won the inaugural season of the league. Despite this, the squad has yet to win a championship since. Manoj Badale and Lachlan Murdoch own the team equally. United Spirits Ltd owns Royal Challengers Bangalore, one of the most competitive IPL teams, with a loyal fan following. To date, the Royal Challengers Bangalore has not won a season. However, the team finished the second three times: in 2009, 2011, and 2016. As their present lineup shows, they might be among the favorites to win the upcoming tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad- Kalanithi Maran (Sun TV Network)

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the title twice, in 2009 (as Deccan Chargers) & 2016. Deccan Chargers was founded in 2008 and helmed by the Deccan Chronicle group. After the franchise declared bankruptcy, the Sun TV network company acquired the franchise and renamed it  Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Sun TV Network is one of the major & predominant entertainment and media companies in India. The network owns 33 television channels as well as 45 FM radio stations.
