Prolific Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan was on Sunday ruled out of the Irani Cup. He was supposed to represent the Rest of India in the prestigious trophy but has been ruled out due to a left index finger injury that he sustained at the Delhi Capitals camp.
Khan skipped the practice match at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. The Irani Cup match is set to get underway in Gwalior on March 1.
As per a report in espncricinfo, the prolific run machine will be out for at least eight to ten days with the injury not looking serious. He is currently nursing the injury at a fitness camp organised by Delhi Capitals in Kolkata.
Khan was seen wearing a protective fibre cast on the finger during the practice match. He didn’t bat or bowl but was engaged with his team as the 12th man. However, his teammate Prithvi Shaw, looked in good touch during the practice game.
Out-of-favour Team India opener Mayank Agarwal will lead the Rest of India squad against Madhya Pradesh. The match was initially set to be played in Indore, but had to be shifted to Gwalior after the third India-Australia Test was allotted to the Holkar Stadium.
