INDIA WON THE 12th T20 WORLD CUP WARM UP MATCH AGAINST ENGLAND BY 7 WICKETS WITH 6 BALLS LEFT AT ICC ACADEMY GROUND IN DUBAI ON MONDAY.
After his comeback in IPL 2021, Ishan Kishan again made an astonishing performance in the first warm up game against England, making a resplendent 70 from just 46 deliveries at ICC cricket ground in Dubai on Monday. Kishan was seen not being in form in the early stages of IPL, but he made two consecutive half centuries in the last two matches.
This young lad, noticeable from the very beginning of the match, smashed the bowlers with 7 boundaries and 3 over boundaries, overhauling England’s 188/5, sparing 6 balls and 7 wickets in hand. Kishan led his way to the pavilion at 70, after which his MI colleague Suryakumar Yadav came to bat. Though captain Kohli said that it is impossible to select any other player other than KL Rahul in the opening along with Rohit Sharma, Kishan’s chance may brighten his prospects of getting a place in the final XI, specifically after Yadav scoring only eight. If Kishan gets runs in the next warm up against Australia, he might even get the massive opportunity to open for the cricket-derby against Pakistan. Talking about the bowlers in the last match, Bumrah (1/26) bowled a tight, disciplined line as usual, while Mohammed Shami too looked sharp, striking thrice. Kohli said that the objective behind the warm-up matches is to give game time to everyone as they get back into the groove after a short break, creating some energy and momentum as a team.
But Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s form continues to be a concern as he did not seem settled and went wicketless, conceding 54 runs in four overs. Rahul (51 off 24 balls) continued to be in form with his trademark strokes that should reduce the pressure to a fair extent off vice-captain Rohit.
Post yesterday’s match, Kohli said that they are pretty sorted in terms of how they are going to start in the first game against Pakistan, as players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Bumrah are in massive form and the addition of the young lad Ishan Kishan has made team India a much stronger one.
