The former Indian captain has praised the 33-year-old for his 175 in the Mohali Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month, breaking Kapil Dev’s record for the highest score by an Indian batter at No.7 in Tests. According to ICC rankings, the 33-year-old is ranked as the No.1 all-rounder in Test cricket. He picked up nine wickets, which included his 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Ravindra Jadeja not only showed his worth with the bat, but also with the ball. Thus, Jajdea became the first cricketer to ever pick up nine wickets and score 150 or more runs in one Test match.
Ravindra Jadeja
During an event in Faridabad, Kapil praised Ravindra Jadeja’s performance, saying, “I love the way he plays among new cricketers because he does not play under pressure.” Cricket is his favorite sport. He is good at both bowling and batting because of that. His fielding skills are excellent as well. Anything done under pressure cannot be done well. You will perform poorly in cricket if you take too much pressure. Upon his Mohali masterclass, Jadeja dethroned West Indies’ Jason Holder from the top spot as the No.1 ranked all-rounder in the world. Among bowlers, he rose three spots to take the 17th spot, while among batters, he jumped 17 spots to take the 34th spot.
In addition, Kapil Dev has played 11 Test matches for India at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium, where he has scored 707 runs, including two centuries, and taken 40 wickets. I am proud to say that I have never lost at Chepauk,” he further stated.
