The Indian bowlers have dominated the conditions, and with Australia’s tail exposed, India will look to wrap up the innings quickly.

WICKET! The battle of the captains goes to Jasprit Bumrah as he dismisses Pat Cummins! A good-length delivery outside off tempted the Australian skipper into a loose poke without proper footwork. The ball took a healthy outside edge and was safely caught by Rishabh Pant.
Australia now finds themselves in deep trouble, losing their seventh wicket on the opening evening of the Test.
A total of 16 wickets have fallen so far today, the most on the opening day of a Test match in Australia since 1952. This rare feat highlights the challenging conditions and the dominance of the bowlers on a lively Perth pitch. Stay tuned as this extraordinary Test match unfolds!
After 24 balls and 48 minutes, Marnus Labuschagne is finally on the scoreboard! A huge cheer from the crowd as he gets his first run. It’s been a testing session with some hostile bowling from the Indian bowlers.

India, opting to bat first in the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, faced a challenging morning session. The top-order batters struggled against Australia's pace attack led by Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. KL Rahul showed some resistance with 26 runs off 74 balls, but his dismissal, followed by early blows to Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, left India reeling.
Rishabh Pant's gritty 37 and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy's composed 35 not out added some respectability to the total. However, the disciplined Australian bowling lineup kept striking at regular intervals. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood picked up three wickets each, while Mitchell Marsh contributed with two crucial breakthroughs.
India currently sits at 144/9 at lunch, with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Siraj at the crease. Australia's bowlers are well poised to wrap up the innings early in the post-lunch session.
End of the Innings: India All Out for 150
India's decision to bat first has backfired, with the team bundled out for just 150 in 49.4 overs on a spicy Perth pitch. The Indian batters struggled throughout the innings, failing to get any significant partnerships as they succumbed to the Australian bowlers who were spot-on with their lengths and made excellent use of the conditions.
Early in the innings, India was rocked with quick dismissals—Yashasvi Jaiswal (0), Devdutt Padikkal (0), and Virat Kohli (5) were sent packing. KL Rahul showed some resistance, contributing 26 before being dismissed just before the lunch break.
Dhruv Jurel (11) and Washington Sundar (4) couldn’t get going, both falling to Mitchell Marsh. Rishabh Pant and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy fought back with a valuable 48-run stand before Pant was dismissed for 37. Debutant Harshit Rana fell cheaply for seven.
Reddy remained calm at the crease, scoring 41, but was eventually dismissed as the last wicket to fall. India was all out for 150, with Josh Hazlewood leading the way with outstanding figures of 4/29. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh chipped in with two wickets each, completing a clinical display from the Australian bowlers.
The pitch offers enough assistance for bowlers who hit the right areas, and the Indian bowlers will now need to use the conditions to their advantage. With the Australian bowlers having done their job, it's now up to their batters to capitalise on the early breakthroughs and put India under pressure.
Tea break is up next, and we’ll be back for the final session of Day 1 in about 20 minutes. Stay tuned!

Ladies and gentlemen, stop what you are doing and watch Pant going crazy in Perth. That is a ridiculous stroke, especially when your team is at 108/6. Unbelievable! These are things that can only be done by the Indian wicketkeeper batter.
Caught in the slips! Mitchell Marsh strikes right after the lunch break, and his teammates are fired up. India is now in trouble with half their side back in the pavilion for just 59 runs.
27.5 - Mitchell Marsh to Dhruv Jurel (WICKET!)
Marsh delivers a beauty! A good-length ball in the off-stump channel, moving away sharply. Jurel, playing from the crease with an angled bat, edges it straight to the slip cordon. Marsh in Perth is unstoppable!
Welcome back to the afternoon session! Can India bounce back in this Test? Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are at the crease, looking to keep India's hopes alive. Mitchell Marsh will begin the session for Australia with the ball.
Interestingly, Virat Kohli's interception point during his brief stay was 2.685 from the stumps—the highest by any batter in the morning session and the highest in his Test career.
