The BBL kicks of with Perth Scorchers, the leagues most successful team kicking things off. They were underwhelming by their normal standards last season, dropping out in the knockouts and this time they will be hoping to ensure Western Australia has some strong representation. The Stars though start with a fresh captain in Marcus Stoinis. Batting up the order, he generally enjoys a new role in the BBL and loves challenges. The Stars weren't at their best last season and the one before as well and will be looking to get some results going their way this time.
Date: December 15th, 2024
Time: 1:45 PM IST
Venue: Perth Stadium
Clear weather and a nice evening is expected for the game.
Perth was pretty quick for the Test at the ground. The drop in for T20s though generally gets flatter. Good and uneven bounce is still likely but to be safe batting second could be a better choice in the initial stage of the tournament.
Joe Clarke, Sam Harper, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Tom Curran, Beau Webster, Adam Milne, Joel Paris, Peter Siddle, Usama Mir
Finn Allen, Keaton Jennings, Nick Hobson, Cooper Connelly, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Ashton Turner, Lance Morris, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Ashton Agar
Peter Siddle
Peter Siddle moves to a new franchise this time. At 40 he is still around and will be gracing the Big Bash League once more. Does he have the pace in him to compete though is something to be seen.
Lance Morris
Lance Morris has been in the national picture for a while in the last year. Australia are yet to unleash him completely with the big three still going strong but his chance will come soon.

The Stars are a decent unit but results have been elluding them. Perth though are a settled side in the tournament and are often really tough to take on at home.
