The El Classico of IPL begins. Both sides look pretty balanced but Mumbai do have some concerns. They start without Pandya, who is banned and Jasprit Bumrah, who is injured for the time being. Suryakumar Yadav leads and they will be confident in their bowling attack. Trent Boult returns to the Mumbai Indians and Deepak Chahar will be excited to play in Chennai, but for a different unit as he gears up in the opposing camp for Mumbai Indians. The powerplay looks pretty settled for them with the two bowlers and their batting line-up has some convincing names as well with the acquirement of Ryan Rickleton the most crucial one.
Chennai will be looking to set a trial by spin. Chepauk is likely to spin after last season being one for the pacers and batters with dew playing a part. March and April tend to see less dew tough while the change of balls should keep spinners in play. With Ashwin, Jadeja and Noor Ahmed that is where they will be looking. They have a lot of depth in the side with Sam Curran adding balance. The main part of the show though is their finisher, MS Dhoni. He is back on the cricket field and Chennai will eagerly wait for him to come out and bring his magic. Can he though? He has been out of the game for a while and age could well be catching up on him. Will the trial by spin work as well? Mumbai Indians after all are one of the few sides who have a good record against Chennai in Chepauk and that could make an impact for the upcoming game as they start favorites against the hosts.

Average Score Batting First in the last five games: 160
Average Score Batting Second in the last five games: 167
Wins Batting First in the last five games: 2
Wins Batting Second in the last five games: 3
Batting second has worked better in the last two seasons at Chepauk. Dew though tends to be a little limited in March and April and more spin could be likely to aid Chennai's spin trio. Batting first therefore could look a better option but until certain chasing is a safer bet.

Ryan Rickleton
Ryan Rickleton has been a star in the MI franchise across the World and now he comes to the IPL. His ability may not yet well be told in the tournament but the moment for him to announce himself is close as he can be as explosive as anyone early on.
Noor Ahmad
Noor Ahmad is a player to watch out for in the CSK camp. He can spin the ball both ways and a lot of spin is likely at Chepauk which will keep him very interested.
Mumbai tend to do pretty well at Chepauk and can start well here. They are short on two of their key players but Mumbai continue to be a side that can put Chennai on their backfoot.
