After what seems like ages the five match ODI series makes its return. There is some relevance though with the Champions Trophy approaching. England will also have chance of seeing how their future captaincy prospect goes. With Jos Buttler ruled out, Harry Brook leads the side for the first time while Jofra Archer too makes another return to the ODI Format. Australia too has a lot of players coming in for the ODIs after trying out new players during the T20s. Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc are all back.
Date: September 19th, 2024
Time: 5:00 AM IST
Venue: Trent Bridge, Nottingham
The weather looks good with a lot of sun through the day and minimal chances of rain.
Trent Bridge is a great place to bat with records made frequently at the ground. Early on though, the bowlers will get some swing to create some interest for the pacers. Batting first though is a better option with scoreboard pressure generally greater in ODIs.

Liam Livingstone
Livingstone briefly faced the axe from ODIs with his numbers dwindling. With Jos Buttler out though, Livingstone has a chance of finding a second life in ODIs. He has the skillset for the game with flexibility in his batting and variety in his bowling but will be looking to ensure his potential converts to performances.
Steve Smith
Steve Smith has been out of the T20 side for a while and his returns in ODIs though decent may not be enough to keep him away from conversations. He remains the best batter in Australia but Steve Smith will be eager to stamp his authority and find his hands before further challenges that await him.
Both sides are pretty evenly poised. England though may be a little short on experience and that could be where Australia will find themselves holding their nerve a touch better.
