Kolkata Knight Riders return to Chennai for another Final after 12 years. Gautham Gambhir sits in the dugout this time around as well, although as a mentor, another former Delhi Capitals player leads them. Against them is a side that lost to them twice.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad, making a lot of noise after transforming T20 batting probably had their most satisfying win in the previous game. While they made 280 look par earlier in the season, they proved that their bowling has some depth as well defending 175 very comfortably. With little dew around, SRH found a lot of purchases with Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma.
They will also be hoping Aiden Markaram can do something similar with lefties in the KKR line-up especially with Chepauk doing Chepauk things. while SRH looks good though, KKR may back themselves a little more having been very comfortable with how they went through the season.
Date: May 26th, 2024
Time: 7:30 PM IST
Venue: MA Chidhambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai
Chennai has been very humid in the last week. Dew though has been a little unpredictable.
Matches | 28 |
Won Batting First and Percentage | 15(54%) |
Won Batting Second and Percentage | 13(46%) |
Average First Innings Score | 158 |
Average Second Innings Score | 146 |
Average Successful First Innings Scores | 172 |
There was a lot of spin in the previous game and the ball has been holding and gripping. If Dew stays away again batting first will be the better choice.

Aiden Markaram
Aiden Markaram could have a role to play in the upcoming game. The pitch has been on the slower side and with lefties in the KKR line-up it will be up to Markaram to break through the KKR line-up with the ball. His bowling is often not rated much but he has in the past shown that he can provide the required with the ball fairly well.
Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc loves big games. His pace and movement has put Travis Head in some discomfort in the previous game and a repeat could shift the Final towards KKR very quickly if he gets the ball in the right spots.

Sunil Narine vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Sunil Narine has been smoking it in the first few overs. He will have a challenge now though. The white-ball doesn’t swing long but if anyone could get the ball to talk it would be in the first over, where he will be looking to stop Sunil Narine.
Sunrisers used the conditions well to defend in the previous game. KKR though have the better head to head and with more lefties in the side they could disturb SRH’s bowling attack which found success through left-arm spin in the previous game.
