New Zealand and South Africa both have a chance to prepare for the conditions they are likely to encounter in the Champions Trophy. South Africa though are not full strength for this game with some first choice players still in South Africa for the SA20.
Date: February 10th, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM IST
Venue: Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
Occasional showers have been around but the weather should be nice, clean and dewy.
Lahore's nature is yet to be seen but with dew likely batting second could be a better way to start the tournament.
Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Tom Latham, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson. Mark Chapman, Nathan Smith/ Will O Rourkee
Temba Bavuma, Kyle Vereynne, Jason Smith, Senuran Muthusamy, Heinrich Klaasen, Matthew Breetzke, Junior Dala, Wiaan Mulder, Gideon Peters, Eathan Bosch, Keshav Maharaj
Keshav Maharaj
With Pakistan spinning more, Keshav Maharaj will have a role to play. He is often an underrated part of the side and will now be in the spotlight especially with South Africa missing some first choice players.
Matt Henry
With Southee and Boult out of the picture and through with their careers Matt Henry will have a chance to grab the spotlights. He knows how to make the new-ball talk better than anyone and is growing with the older one too.
South Africa are without some first choice players and that could give New Zealand confidence coming into the game.
