The 64th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 was played between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. The venue for the game was Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala. The skipper of the home team, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and invited Delhi Capitals to bat in the first innings. This decision of Punjab Kings kind of back-fired as Delhi Capitals’ batters wreaked havoc in Dharamshala. The visitors were hitting mercilessly from the beginning of the innings and the openers, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw displayed brilliant performances and scored 46 and 54 runs each at strike rates of 140+. The openers fell short of putting up a 100-run partnership as David Warner got out when the team total of Punjab was 94. He was dismissed by Sam Curran on the second delivery of the 10th over.

Punjab Kings bowlers looked relieved when Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner lost his wicket, but to their surprise, Rilee Rossouw who came in at the 3rd position in the batting order batted even more destructively against them. The left-handed batsman scored 82 runs in just 37 deliveries with the help of 6 maximums and 6 boundaries. Philip Salt also supported him in the onslaught. At the end of 20 overs, Delhi Capitals posted a total score on 213 on the board.

In the second innings, Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan came in to open the innings but could not score big. Shikhar Dhawan got out for a golden duck while Prabhsimran Singh scored 22 runs off 19 deliveries. However, the other top-order batters Atharva Taide and Liam Livingstone made fans happy as they were able to score 55 runs and 94 runs each.

Especially, fans were impressed by Liam Livingstone’s knock of 94 runs off 48 deliveries with the help of 9 maximums and 5 boundaries. Other than Atharva, Liam Livingstone was the only one who showed some intent and fought single-handedly for his team till the end before getting out on the last ball of the match.

Even given the fact that Punjab Kings lost the match by 15 runs, Livingstone won many hearts tonight which is very evident from the amount of love that he has received on the internet after the match.
