After 42 matches in the 2022 T20 World Cup, we are down to the final four sides in the competition with New Zealand and Pakistan meeting in the opening semi-final on Wednesday evening. New Zealand finished top of Group 1 with three wins from five matches. Pakistan finished second in Group 2 with six points. New Zealand have lost only one match in this tournament but have a poor recent record over Pakistan. They will need to be at their best, but getting a win and qualifying for Sunday’s final is very achievable for the Black Caps. However, they now have momentum and their bowling attack is performing strongly.

Both teams have strong bowling attacks but it is New Zealand’s batters who have been more consistent than Pakistan’s across the tournament. Runs on the board will be particularly crucial in a low-scoring match. After a very poor start to the competition, Pakistan’s bowlers are now delivering pace, aggression and accuracy but their top order batters have struggled for consistency. In a battle of the batters, we expect New Zealand to come out on top and are backing them to win this match. Considering the team combination, New Zealand is expected to win this match.
