New Zealand and Sri Lanka go head to head in Match 27 of the 2022 T20 World Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday evening. New Zealand beat Australia in their opening fixture before their game with Afghanistan was abandoned without a ball bowled. Sri Lanka have beaten Ireland and lost to Australia so far. New Zealand were unfortunate with the weather against Afghanistan but will be in a very strong position in the group if they win this match. They have an excellent recent record against Sri Lanka and will be full of confidence. Sri Lanka too good for Ireland in their first Super 12 game but were then well beaten by Australia. They were unable to stop Marcus Stoinis in full flow and will need to be wary of the same thing happening against powerful batters here.

Sri Lanka has beaten some top teams over recent months and was excellent value for winning the Asia Cup but beating New Zealand would be their biggest victory in recent times. Sri Lanka will come into this match believing that they can cause an upset but the reality is that New Zealand very rarely put in a poor performance. We expect Sri Lanka to have some good moments but are backing New Zealand to win the match. Considering the team combination, New Zealand is expected to win this match.
