Pakistan and Bangladesh meet in the penultimate game of the Super 12 stage, Match 40 of the 2022 T20 World Cup, on Sunday afternoon in Adelaide. Both teams have won two and lost two and must win this game to give themselves any chance of progressing to the semi-final stage. Pakistan have given themselves a chance of staying in the competition and a win will put them in a semi-final position ahead of India’s game later in the day. They have a very strong record against Bangladesh. Bangladesh showed plenty of improvement in their game against India and if they can bat with the same intensity at the top of the order then they could cause problems. They need to win by a large margin to remain in the tournament.

Spinners and pace bowlers can both find something to assist them in this surface in Adelaide. We expect that any score over 185 will be very hard to chase down in this game. Bangladesh caused India problems on this wicket on Wednesday and they will come into this game with more self-belief. However, Pakistan have the greater number of world class players and should be too strong. Bangladesh are still in the hunt for a place in the semi-final and if Litton Das produces another aggressive innings at the top of the order then anything could happen. However, performances like that from Das and his team-mates have been in short supply in this format whereas Pakistan have been a far more consistent side. We are backing Pakistan to win this game comfortably. Considering the team combination, Pakistan is expected to win this match.
