Continuing his fine form from the previous game, Umesh Yadav dismissed Anuj Rawat for a duck in his first over. Both openers were lost as a result of skipper du Plessis’ catching inside the circle. A two and a four from Harshal Patel in the penultimate over sealed the victory for Dinesh Karthik. Before they batted, the Knight Riders made a change in their side. Tim Southee replaced Shivam Mavi. In the first three overs of the innings, Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane scored 14 runs. Kohli hit two fours in his third over before he was caught behind the bowling of Yadav. In the penultimate over, Harshal Patel hit two crucial fours before Dinesh Karthik wrapped things up with a six and a four. With two fours, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer got Rahane off to a good start. Rahane was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj after Shahbaz Ahmed made an easy catch at deep cover.

Hasaranga’s fourth victim was Tim Southee, who du Plessis safely caught after a mistimed shot at long-range. Akash Deep removed Umesh Yadav in the penultimate over after he had added valuable 27 runs with Varun Chakravarthy.
