Rohit Sharma’s form sustained from T20Is to Test series: Shreyas Iyer

As a result of his fifty runs in both innings of the second Test, Shreyas Iyer ended the series with 186 runs from three innings. Sri Lanka was swept by India in the day-night Test in Bengaluru, winning by 238 runs. In the two innings, Iyer compiled 92 and 67 runs, and he was also a match-winner.

Rohit Sharma completed a clean sweep across all formats against the visitors in the series. His wholehearted praise for Shreyas Iyer came during the post-match press conference. The third man in the playing XI replaced Cheteshwar Pujara and played well. His T20 form translated well to Test cricket, as he stepped up when big shoes needed filling. ”As Shreyas carried on from the T20 series against Sri Lanka, he maintained his form. His form carried over to the Test series as well. As Rahane and Pujara’s successor, he knew he was stepping into big shoes, but he possess all the necessary tools. When he starts traveling he will be more prepared,” Rohit stated during the press conference post-match.

In a short time, Iyer has established himself as a regular for the Indian team in multiple formats, after making his Test debut against New Zealand last year.  After his impressive performance in the third ODI against the West Indies, he scored three consecutive fifties in the T20I series against Sri Lanka and is now in the Test series.

As the highest run-getter in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, Shreyas Iyer scored 204 runs. After joining the KKR squad, he will begin his preparations for IPL 2022. He was also named the skipper of the franchise, a deal worth 12.25 crores.
