Match 9 sees Sri Lanka and Netherlands go head to head at Kardinia Park on Thursday afternoon in Round One of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka lost their opening match to Namibia but bounced back with a 79 run win over UAE on Tuesday. Netherlands have won both fixtures so far. Sri Lanka were unhappy with their total of 152-8 against UAE, particularly after being 117-2 with over five overs left. However, their bowling was exceptional and they should have enough quality to beat Netherlands. After beating UAE and Namibia, Netherlands are very close to reaching the Super 12 Stage. This game will prove to be their toughest of the first round and a victory against Sri Lanka could be out of reach.
Netherlands vs Sri Lanka – 9th Match
Venue: Simonds Stadium, Geelong
Date & Time: 20th October at 9:30 AM IST

The surface should be batting-friendly. The wickets in Australia are hard thus it’s easy to score runs here. However, the bowlers also have a slight advantage with extra bounce. It will be a cold and cloudy day with more than a 50 per cent chance of rain. The temperatures can dip to 4 degrees which will make it very challenging for the players.

Netherlands have talented players with both bat and ball but Sri Lanka have world class performers in their side. It would be a huge upset if Netherlands were to defeat the 2022 Asia Cup Champions. With Sri Lanka back in form and Netherlands looking for their third straight victory, this game should be of a very high standard. Both teams have good bowling line-ups although Sri Lanka’s spinners are on a different level. We are predicting a victory for Sri Lanka. Considering the team combination, Sri Lanka is expected to win this match.
