In the Indian Premier League, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has represented more than one franchise. His most famous was the Chennai Super Kings, but they were not his only club. During the two years that CSK was banned, Dhoni played for the Rising Pune Supergiants. Thisara Perera, a former teammate of Dhoni, recalled a ‘special moment’ he shared with his captain during a game in the 2016 edition.
“Dhoni is like my brother,” Perera said, recalling their partnership with the Pune franchise. Perera further stated that Dhoni remained unbeaten until the end of the innings and called him “one of the best captains” he has ever faced. In 2016, I experienced a special incident with MS Dhoni, in which I felt that Dhoni was my brother. Our team was 35-5 when I batted in one match. During a recent press conference, Perera explained that MS was not a striker.
”Since then, he has been hitting the ball every time. The opposition lost momentum when I got around 18-ball 40. We scored around 170 or 180 from 35-5 in the 20th over, as MS played until the 20th over. Playing under MS is always a special experience. I have had the pleasure of playing under some great captains in my career,” concluded Perera.
