IPL 2023: RR vs DC Match 11 Stats Review, Buttler’s Heroics’ Made History On The Ground

A composed 79-run knock from Jos Buttler along with brilliant 31-ball 60 from Yashasvi Jaiswal and splendid bowling-display from bowlers handed RR a massive 57-run win over DC in the 11^th match of IPL 2023

Speaking about the game, put into bat first, RR started off to a flier as Yashasvi Jaiswal went berserk against Khaleel Ahmed with ruthless hitting, scoring 20 runs in the very first over that included five fours. Jos Buttler joined hands in the second over as he smacked 12 runs of Anrich Nortje. The duo together added 98 runs for the first wicket in 9^th over, Jaiswal raised to his fifth IPL fifty in grand style.

Mukesh Kumar had the last laugh, as he broke the first wicket partnership by picking up Jaiswal. Rayan Parag and Sanju Samson did not last long as they both were dismissed was 7 and 0 respectively. However, Jos Buttler along Shimron Hetmyer kept the scoreboard ticking as the duo added 49 runs for fourth wicket. 

Jos Buttler amassed 79 runs from 51 balls that included 12 boundaries. 21-ball 39 run cameo from Hetmyer lower-down the order helped RR post a massive total of 199/4 in 20 overs.  Chasing a massive target of 200, DC batters succumbed to Trent Boult’s dominance as he struck twice in two balls in the very first over with his fearsome bowling, sending Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey to hut for duck.

Soon, Ravichandran Ashwin took the wicket of Rilee Rossouw leaving them reeling at 36/3 at the close of powerplay. However, David Warner kept the scoreboard ticking along with Lalit Yadav as the duo added 64 runs for the fourth wicket.

Trent Boult yet-again broke the good going partnership by picking Lalit Yadav and from thereon DC was never in the game as they kept losing wickets at regular Interval. Warner single-handedly held one end aggregating 65 runs at a below par strike rate, just to reduce the margin of defeat.  Boult and Chahal picked three wickets each to help RR beat DC by a margin of 56 runs.

3 -David Warner (6039) completed 600 runs in IPL, becoming the only third player after Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to achieve this feat.

165 -David Warner completed 6000 runs in 165 innings, becoming the fastest batter to complete 6000 runs in IPL by innings, bettering Virat Kohli’s tally of 188.

5 -David Warner (2025) became the only fifth player to complete 2000 IPL runs for Delhi Capitals.

2 -David Warner became the second player after Shikhar Dhawan to score more than 2000 runs for two different teams in IPL. Both of them have achieved this feat for Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

2 -Jos Buttler now has 16 half- centuries for RR in IPL, becoming the batter with second most number of half-century. Rahane tops the list with 17 half-centuries.

19 -Trent Boult has taken 19 wickets in the first over of IPL game, which is the second most by any player. Bhuvneshwar Kumar tops the chart with 20 wickets.

20 -Yashasvi Jaiswal smacked 20 runs in the first over of Khaleel Ahmed. This is the second highest score for RR in the first over of an IPL innings. They previous scored 22 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2009.

1 -Ravichandran Ashwin (24) equals Harbhajan Singh for the joint-most wickets against Delhi Capitals in IPL. Dwayne Bravo is next in the list along with Jasprit Bumrah and Piyush Chawla, all three picking 23 wickets.

1 -David Warner now has 19 fifty plus scores for DC, this is the most by any batter for DC surpassing Shikhar Dhawan’s tally of 18.
