Suryakumar Yadav had no flaws just a few months ago.
The Mumbai right-hander was at his best as he became the world’s No. 1 batsman in Twenty20 cricket. Suryakumar, on the other hand, has been left wondering where his next run will come from because life has taken such a cruel turn.
On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, while playing his signature pick up shot off pacer Mukesh Kumar straight to Kuldeep Yadav at fine leg, he was run out for a first ball duck against the Delhi Capitals.
Even worse, in the 17th over, when Suryakumar misjudged a catch from Axar Patel at deep midwicket, he received a painful blow to the left eyebrow and had to be helped off the field for treatment.
Suryakumar’s count perused 16 from three innings in IPL 2023 adding to Mumbai Indians’ troubles.
He was selected for the Test team based on his performance in the T20Is during the first Test against Australia in Nagpur in February. He was bowled out of the gate by Nathan Lyon for eight after trying an ambitious drive against the spin.
What would come next in the ODI series against Australia must have escaped his wildest dreams.
Suryakumar fell for three progressive brilliant ducks in the three match series, two times falling leg before wicket to Mitchell Starc.
As he continues to struggle in IPL 2023, it appears that he is thinking about the terrible performance against Australia. Suryakumar appears destined for his worst season in the Mumbai Indians’ blue and gold, for whom he has been unstoppable for the past five seasons, unless he can improve his form.
