The 2022 Big Bash League gets underway with Sydney Thunder(SYT) taking on Melbourne Stars(MLS) at the Manuka Oval, Canberra. Sydney Thunder finished in third place in the group stage and fourth overall during the 2021 season. Melbourne Stars ended in sixth place, one point away from the play-offs last year. Sydney Thunder have assembled a fantastic squad of players who could well be able to build on last year’s performance. With the experience of Rilee Rossouw and Alex Hales, scoring runs should not be a problem. Melbourne Stars will be without star all-rounder and captain Glenn Maxwell but this should give the opportunity for other players to make a name. We expect the Stars to be one of the most entertaining sides in the competition.

The batting firepower of Alex Hales and Rilee Rossouw gives Sydney Thunder the edge ahead of this match. That said, Marcus Stoinis and Joe Clarke will also make a fearsome opening pair. Fans of cricket from across the globe will be looking forward to the start of another BBL season and with the players on show in this game, we do not expect any supporters to be disappointed.
