With rain set to play spoilsport in Sydney, England and Afghanistan could well be how the tournament begins. The weather at Perth is a lot better, and that should allow for a more stable game. Coming to the teams, England are all set to come in with a full-strength team, barring Chris Woakes who is out of the first game. Against them is Afghanistan. Afghanistan are one of those rare sides who may prefer batting first given there bowling strength and spin depth.

The forecast at Perth looks good and a full game is likely.
The Perth track has some bounce in it and should help the bowlers up front. High scoring games are likely here though and batting second will be a better option.
Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Dawid Willey, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Chris Jordan.
Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Darwish Rasooli, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi
Jos Buttler’s time has come. While he has seen a lot in international cricket, leading in a World Cup will be a new experience for him. After sitting out with an injury during the Pakistan series, he is finally back. His career is at its peak now, and as a batter Jos Buttler has a great chance to make this World Cup all about him.
Rashid Khan is Afghanistan’s biggest asset. If Afghanistan are to do anything in this World Cup, his set of 24 balls in each game are going to the key factor. Perth is one of the friendlier grounds for batting and he has a challenge ahead. Against England as well, Rashid Khan does not have great memories and given the challenge ahead, he has a lot of work on his hands now.

Afghanistan are growing well in international cricket, but they have a huge challenge ahead. England are coming in with some good form behind them and should be favorites to win this contest.
