Skipper Rohit talked about the pitches Team India was given to practice in Melbourne. He said those pitches were used pitches for Big Bash. Today they got a fresh wicket to practice on and he said we will go and see the pitch and train accordingly.

Rohit on Series being tied at 1-1

Skipper Rohit Sharma said, "We have played some really good cricket. We have been fortunate that we won the Test in Perth. When you get bowled out for 150 runs you feel like you are under pressure. And then the attitude from the boys that they turned up and bowled out Australia for 104 shows up the attitude of not giving up till the last day of the Test match. When you tour abroad you know that you have to put those extra effort and some attitude as well which we showed in that Test match."

See Also:- ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Complete Fixtures Announced

"In Adelaide, we were a little bit behind the game. We didn't play well and I admitted that too. And then in Brisbane there wasn't much cricket only 180 and 90 overs were bowled. So, after three matches I had to look out at it being 1-1 it's a fair reflection of how both teams have played. Both teams have played solid cricket. The remaining two Tests are so important now for both teams. We want to break it down for just Melbourne now and we can focus on what we can achieve here. We should get our things right, play well, bat and bowl well, and take some good catches as well."

Rohit praises Bumrah's confidence and impact

Rohit Sharma on being asked about Jasprit Bumrah's impact on the series said, "It's very easy not say anything. Because he knows everything and he knows how he operates very plain and simple. He doesn't try to complicate things with his own stuff and keeps it nice and simple. He has so much belief in his skillset that there is not much discussion we need to have with him. I have been watching him for a long time. I have captained him for a long time so I know how he thinks. What he is trying to do makes it really easier for me not to think too much while he is bowling. Only because he is so clear in his mind. Whether he gets wickets or he doesn't he is so confident with his skillset that the conversations that happen during the game gives me that confidence that what the guy is trying to do. There is nothing much I can add there. So. it's very simple with him and it's always nice to have somebody like him in your team. When he is in such form the job of the other bowlers also becomes a little bit easier. All they need to do it to maintain that pressure. So, when it comes to Bumrah it is crystal clear ideas and plain and simple thoughts. It's nice to see that a lot of people from the opposition camp talk about him. How to handle him and stuff like that but usually those are the discussions that happen everywhere and like I said the impact he had on the series so far is massive. I hope he continues to do that because these two games are very very important for us."

AUS vs IND Dream11 Prediction, Fantasy Cricket Tips, Probable Playing XI For 4th Test Match

AUS vs IND Match Prediction for Today- Read to find out who will win today's match between Australia vs India, 4th Test Match With Updates on Cricketwinner

AUS vs IND Match Preview

With the five-match series hanging on the balance, Australia will face India in the fourth Test on Boxing Day. Ravi Shastri asked him during the post-match presentation about his fitness and he replied, "Just a little sore but I should be fine (before the next game)."

🗣️ "Trav, he'll be fine. Cummins said, "Trav, he'll be fine. It's a bit of a tight quad, he'll be fine for Melbourne." It will be a huge blow for the hosts if Travis Head misses out on the Melbourne Test or even the Sydney Test. The in-form batter is a crucial part of the host's power batting unit. So, the hosts will be hoping that Travis Head will recover within a week to feature in the Melbourne Test.

See Also:- Ravichandran Ashwin retires from international cricket

Rain ends the game in a Draw and BGT moves to Melbourne at 1-1

Rain had the final say in the Brisbane Test as both teams had to settle it for a draw. With this win, India set up a new Test history.

Chasing down the whopping 534 runs target, Australia were all out for 238 runs. India started the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 with a 295-run win. It was Australia’s first Test defeat at the Perth Stadium, which had won all the previous four Tests by at least 140 runs margins.

Test records: Winning and losing margins

It was India’s largest Test victory margin by runs in Australia. Their previous record was winning by 222 runs during the 1977 Melbourne Test. On the other hand, it was Australia's second-largest home Test defeat by runs in the 21st century (the seventh-biggest home Test loss by runs overall), after losing the 2012 WACA Test by 309 runs against South Africa.

Meanwhile, it was also India's third-largest Test win by runs outside India and the largest in the SENA countries. Their top two victory records outside India were winning by 318 runs against West Indies in the 2019 North Sound Test and 304 runs against Sri Lanka in the 2017 Galle Test.

Also, it was India’s second-largest Test victory margin by runs against Australia. Their record Test-winning margin against Australia is 320 runs during the 2008 Mohali Test.

The Day 4 battles

Starting the fourth day of the five-match Test series opener at 12/3, hosts Australia lost the opener Usman Khawaja (4) on the seventh ball of the day. Mohammed Siraj set up the first short ball of the day for the opener as Khawaja's pull shot skied the ball high, and the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant grabbed a good catch.

Steven Smith and Travis Head had a 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Siraj's beauty delivery found a thick outside edge of Smith's bat, and Pant took a good catch to dismiss Smith for 17 runs.

Head and Mitchell Marsh then built an 82-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Head completed his fifty for 63 balls with the help of six fours. However, the stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah once again did his job by dismissing Head for 89 off 101 balls (eight fours) in his new spell.

Later, the Test debutant all-rounder Nitish Reddy bowled Mitchell Marsh, who dragged the ball on the stumps after scoring 47 off 67 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc added a 45-run partnership for the eighth wicket before Washington Sundar dismissed Mitchell Starc (12), thanks to a great catch by the short-leg fielder Dhruv Jurel. While that dismissal made the tea break on, Sundar completed that over after the tea break as Nathan Lyon was bowled for a duck.

It was just a matter of time before the visitors set a memorable win in the five-match Test series opener, and Harshit Rana took the last wicket as the wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey was bowled after scoring 36 off 58 balls with the help of two fours.

Stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed a fifer (5/30) during the hosts' first innings of the match, took three wickets in the last innings (3/42) and deservingly won the Player of the Match award. Mohammed Siraj bagged three wickets in the fourth innings (3/51) after picking up two wickets (2/20) in the previous innings, and debutant Harshit Rana got (3/48 and 1/69) four wickets in total. Also, Washington Sundar had two wickets (2/48), and Nitish Kumar Reddy got a wicket (1/21) in the fourth innings of the match.

India return on top of the ICC WTC points table

This giant Test win has helped India to return to the top place of the points table in the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship points table, where they have the PCT of 61.11. Meanwhile, the second-placed Australia have slipped to second place, and their PCT has gone down to less than 60 (57.69).

BGT 2024-25: Kohli's redemption and Jasprit's double strike puts India on Top in Perth

Team India left Australia on 12-3 at the end of Day 3 in Perth.

Team India left the hosts on 3/12 on Day 3 in Perth. Indian bowlers were right on the money to capitalise on the situation and restrict Aussies as much as they could.

Tons from Jaiswal and Kohli give India a lead of 533 Runs

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his 4th Test ton and first on Australian soil and led Team India's batting foundation on Day 3 as well. He was dismissed by Mitchell Marsh for 161. Virat Kohli made his comeback in style and scored his 30th Ton in Perth. He has been off form so far and it's a huge boost for Team India that Kohli is back in form. Team India declared their innings on 487-6 with a mammoth lead of 533 runs. It was Kohli's 81st ton in International cricket.

At one time India were 5 down for 321 as the wickets of set batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel fell in quick succession. Virat Kohli stood firm from one end and he got the support of Washington Sundar which was much needed. The pair stitched an 89-run partnership for the 6th wicket and steadied India's innings. Washington Sundar fell prey to Nathan Lyon as he missed his delivery completely and hit on the stumps. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy came and accelerated very well as he scored 38* off 27 which included three fours and two sixes as well.

See Also:- King Kohli’s 7th Australian Test ton powers India in Perth

Virat Kohli completed his hundred with a boundary by sweeping away to the leg side. It took him 16 innings to end the hundred drought in this format. Kohli also scored a hundred here in the 2018/19 tour and repeated the same heroics today when it was much needed for his side.

Skipper Bumrah leads India's bowling attack again

Team India declared immediately after Virat Kohli completed his hundred. India were leading by 533 runs and then the hosts have to bat there for some 5-7 overs which was a hard task for them. Indian pacers took advantage of this perfectly as they capitalized and left them in shambles as Day 3 play ended on Australia being 12 for loss of three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Nathan McSweeney on the 4th ball by a plumb LBW. Ball kept low and McSweeney wasn't able to defend it.

Skipper Pat Cummins took on the responsibility as Night Watchman to protect Marnus' wicket but he didn't last longer as Siraj got him caught in slips. Marnus Labuschagne walked out to bat with almost nine minutes left. But Bumrah got him by LBW as the ball kept low again. This Perth wicket has misbehaved again. Labuschagne did review it but it couldn't do anything better as Richard Gaffaney wasn't able to reverse the decision. It was a huge blow for the hosts.

Watch: Virat Kohli appreciates openers after dominant display

Indian openers ended Day 2 on 172 for no loss and a healthy lead of 218 runs.

Team India ended the dominant display on 172-0, leading by 218 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal 90*(193) and KL Rahul 62*(153) made Australia toil hard in the afternoon and evening session. The last time an Indian pair before Jaiswal & Rahul to bat out two successive sessions in a SENA Test were Pujara and Kohli at the MCG in 2018.

Team India restricted Australia to 104 which was their second-lowest total against India at home, after the 83 all-out in Melbourne in 1981. t is also Australia's third-lowest total in home Tests since 1985 and their fourth-lowest total in the format against India.

See Also:- BGT 2024-25: Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul take a healthy lead for India on Day 2 in Perth

Yashasvi Jaiswal shined in the second innings after being dismissed for an 8-ball duck in the first innings. His knock of unbeaten 90 included seven fours and two sixes. Jaiswal also set the record of hitting the Most Sixes in a calendar year in Tests as he raised the tally to 33. He has impressed everybody with such a batting performance as it's his first Australia tour since he made his Test debut.

Jaiswal reveals about Kohli's message to him ahead of BGT

"When I started playing like senior cricket, I did speak to Virat Paji that how he managed himself. Paji has said to me that if I want to play all that cricket, then I have to be disciplined in my daily routines and follow the process. So I have seen him doing the stuff consistently day by day. Actually, seeing him, it motivates me a lot to put in the work and do something and make a difference in my habits, which is really important for me. I feel like I will be better day by day," Jaiswal said in a video posted by BCCI.

His batting partner KL Rahul also showed some resilience and he is currently unbeaten on 62 off 153 balls. KL Rahul looked in good touch in the first innings. He ensured that they kept strike rotation on as well to add some valuable runs. Meanwhile, KL Rahul has been involved in 100+ opening partnerships in SENA countries since 2000 thrice. He achieved this feat with three different partners with Yashasvi Jaiswal being the latest addition.

Virat Kohli was seen practicing immediately after the end of the day's play.
