Travis Head, having tested positive for COVID-19 following his unwell feeling at the conclusion of the first Test in Adelaide, may participate in the Brisbane Test under team isolation protocols. Cricket Australia has informed us that Head’s arrival in Brisbane will be delayed until Tuesday morning to allow for additional recovery time. The team’s primary training session at the Gabba is scheduled for 5 pm on Tuesday.

After falling ill post the Adelaide Test, where he earned the match award for a crucial century, Head was diagnosed with COVID. Despite the team planning to regroup in Brisbane on Monday for preparations ahead of the day/night Test on Thursday, Head will spend an extra night at home in anticipation of testing negative before rejoining the team.

Navigating Team Isolation: Travis Head’s Potential Participation in Brisbane Test Amidst COVID-19

Should Head still test positive, he will adhere to isolation protocols, similar to those Matt Renshaw followed when he tested positive just before the start of the SCG Test last year. Renshaw played in the match but had to watch from a separate room when off the field, maintaining social distance while fielding. He stayed isolated at the team’s hotel until testing negative.

These protocols were initially implemented during the Commonwealth Games women’s cricket final in Birmingham in August 2022 when Tahlia McGrath played despite testing positive beforehand. The situation was well-handled by Cricket Australia, ensuring the safety of everyone involved.

As Head’s illness is disclosed, Usman Khawaja has been cleared to play the second Test against the West Indies at the Gabba. He passed all regular tests for delayed concussion after sustaining a heavy blow to the helmet grille and jaw during the final day of the Adelaide Test with scores level. Khawaja, with no symptoms of delayed concussion, is set to train at the Gabba tomorrow.

A BCCI source confirmed that Pant had tested positive and had been in isolation for the past eight days. “Yes, one player has tested positive but he has been in isolation for the last eight days. He was not staying in any hotel with the team, so no other player has been affected,” BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told PTI.

“As of now, no other player has tested positive. Also, you must be aware our secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to all players to maintain protocols”

have you heard of this- Is the end near for Ravi Shastri as the coach for the Indian team? Let the T20 world cup will decide.

The development came close on the heels of Shah sending an email to the Indian contingent, warning it about the rising cases of Covid-19 in the United Kingdom. The players were given a break after the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, which the team lost last month.

It is understood that Pant has been afflicted by the Delta variant, which has led to the rising number of cases in England. He was seen attending a Euro 2020 football match last month and had even posted pictures on his social media accounts.

Shah, in his letter, told the players to “avoid” crowded places as Covishield, the vaccine that has been administered to the players and other members of the team only provides protection, not full immunity against the virus.

In fact, Shah’s letter had specifically stated that players should avoid going to Wimbledon and the Euros, both of which recently concluded in the UK.

The Indian team is due to take on England in a five-match Test series starting August 4. It will play a practice game starting July 20 as a build-up to the high-intensity series. But Pant Easwaran and Saha will miss the practice match scheduled to start on July 20 against a combined countryside with Bengal players Alson with Arun in 10 days

what didi they said- BCCI has taken all possible precautions to keep the team safe against covid-19, says Rajeev Shukla

Pant will also need recovery time and won’t play the game in that case KL Rahul will keep against combined counties from July 20-22

The India-England showdown marks the beginning of the second cycle of the World Test Championship.

Recently, the England team too was hit by the virus and was forced to field a second-string side for its limited-overs series against Pakistan.

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla on Thursday (July 15) said despite the fact that one member from the touring contingent is presently positive for Covid-19 in England, there isn’t anything to stress over as the board is playing it safe taking every precaution possible for the team.

The spread of COVID-19 wasn’t confined to just the England team in the recent past, even two Indian cricketers were influenced by the virus in the UK. Yet, luckily, both are doing fine at this point.

While one of them – a top-order batsman – has even returned negative tests since Rishabh Pant will be tested on July 18 as he finishes his tenth day in isolation.

“One player has been discovered positive, he was asymptomatic, I will not reveal the name. He is not remaining in the squad’s hotel, he is staying with family members and is recuperating quite well. He is in isolation, he was discovered positive 8 days back. He will be tested again in the next two days,” Shukla (BCCI) told ANI.

“Team India is fine, there is no issue. Secretary Jay Shah has composed a letter to team executives saying everyone ought to follow the COVID protocols, strict measures, anything that might be adapted according to the suggestions should be followed and all wellbeing safeguards ought to be taken and the team must be exceptionally cautious during the England tour,” he added.

In an early misfortune for Team India, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the five-match Test series against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Thursday.

Pant is “asymptomatic” and has been in isolation throughout the last eight days, revealed BCCI.

Following the loss in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand last month, the Indian cricket team has been on a break and outside the bio-bubble. The players and the support staff were approached to assemble in Durham on Thursday for the preparation ahead of the first Test, which starts on Aug. 4 in Nottingham. Nonetheless, Pant, who is believed to have gotten the Delta variation, will not head out to Durham of its own.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently sent an email to the Indian contingent in the U.K., warning them about the spike in COVID-19 cases in the country. He asked the players and support staff to not attend recently conducted sporting events such as Euros 2020 and Wimbledon.

In any case, the members from the Indian squad didn’t adhere to that and were spotted at those events. While lead coach Ravi Shastri and Ravichandran Ashwin went to watch Wimbledon, the quickie Jasprit Bumrah and Pant went to Euro 2020 matches.

The five Tests between India and England are scheduled to be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Lord’s in London, Headingley in Leeds, Kennington Oval in London, and Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

Further discussing the developments, Shukla said: “We are avoiding potential risk during the series, everybody is placed in the bio-bubble so since it was a long gap of one month so players were permitted to go around. I don’t imagine that they can be continually kept in a bubble.

“We are not that stressed in light of the fact that the rest of the players are fine they will head to Durham. Who is in isolation won’t go with the rest of the squad. When they test negative, then, at that point they can continue ahead.”

The Indian team will play a warm-up game from July 20 to 22 against a County Championship XI team that is being orchestrated by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after a request from the BCCI.

He also added that “The squad has been living under very tight restrictions. We haven’t gambled. I don’t believe we’ve gambled at all. We are fully aware of the risks and we are aware of the knife-edge that we are working on all the time,”

England’s next opponents, Pakistan, have been in managed isolation in Derby since arriving on June 25. The first ODI is due to take place in Cardiff on Thursday, with the ECB indicating there would be no changes to the schedule or ticketing arrangements.
