The IPL 2025 clash on April 14 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow drew massive crowds, with a strong presence of CSK supporters. Despite being an away game for Chennai, the stands were dominated by yellow jerseys, as MS Dhoni's fanbase turned out in full force. The match's lively atmosphere, however, was momentarily disrupted by an incident involving a security guard and a CSK fan's flag, which caught attention on social media.

The video showed the guard taking away a CSK flag from a spectator. While IPL stadium regulations strictly prohibit flags attached to sticks due to safety concerns, especially after a similar restriction was enforced at Wankhede Stadium earlier in the season, fans pointed out that the flag seen in the video appeared to have no stick. This raised questions about the legitimacy of the confiscation and whether the fans' rights were unfairly infringed.

The incident sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many supporters voicing their frustration and calling for more clarity around stadium entry rules. As fans highlighted that stickless flags are typically allowed, the situation fueled debate about security practices and consistency in implementing match-day protocols. The controversy added an unexpected layer of tension to the high-stakes match, which was otherwise expected to be a cricketing spectacle.

Lucknow Super Giants Innings

Lucknow Super Giants posted a total of 166 for 7 in their 20 overs during their match against Chennai Super Kings. The innings got off to a slow start, with opener Aiden Markram departing early for 6. Mitchell Marsh contributed 30 runs but couldn’t build substantial innings. The highlight for LSG was captain Rishabh Pant, who top-scored with a composed 63 off 49 balls. Ayush Badoni (22) and Abdul Samad (20) added valuable runs, but LSG struggled to gain momentum due to regular wickets falling at key moments.

Chennai’s bowlers executed their plans effectively, with Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana each claiming two wickets. Jadeja dismissed Marsh and Badoni, while Pathirana made crucial breakthroughs, removing Pant and Thakur in quick succession. Anshul Kamboj bowled tightly and took the important wicket of Pooran, and Khaleel Ahmed struck early by removing Markram. MS Dhoni also made his presence felt, with a sharp stumping and a brilliant run-out to dismiss Samad. Despite some late resistance, LSG’s total was under par on a pitch that offered assistance to the bowlers.
