<![CDATA[Kuldeep Yadav’s fun take: Indian cricketers as footballing icons]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/kuldeep-yadav-s-fun-take-indian-cricketers-as-footballing-icons/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/kuldeep-yadav-s-fun-take-indian-cricketers-as-footballing-icons/ Tue, 25 Mar 2025 11:57:05 GMT

The conversation with current Indian ball twirler Kuldeep Yadav sparked a little excitement in the hearts of the fans as he compared the legendary footballers of all times to some of India's top-end cricketers. This comparison shows the common skills, mindset, and play style of both sports, and the crossover is an effective one.

Virat Kohli as Cristiano Ronaldo & Rohit Sharma as Steven Gerrard:

According to Kuldeep Yadav, Virat is a reflection of Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also known for his hard work, how he has led the team, and his ability to perform during the most tense parts of the game. On the other hand, Kuldeep drew a parallel between Rohit Sharma and Steven Gerrard, saying that they are both level-headed players, very tactful, and win games often.

MS Dhoni as Paul Scholes & Jasprit Bumrah as Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

MS Dhoni, who is a legend in his own right, was compared to Paul Scholes, as both of them were known for their intelligent and composed playing abilities as well as the control of the game. Jasprit Bumrah was his equal among Indian players because he was likened to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was unpredictable and had a style that was both unconventional and highly dominant.

Rishabh Pant as Mohamed Salah and Kuldeep Yadav as Bernardo Silva:

Kuldeep Yadav equated Rishabh Pant with Mohamed Salah, as both of them are immensely quick guys who can score in no time and sham opponents as they zigzag around. Similar to Salah's surprise blitzes and his goal-getter skills, Pant also pours out the same venom in cricket, and his attacking game can be crucial in winning the match.
Yet, Kuldeep Yadav was not only like Bernardo Silva but wider as well, which made everyone notice his excellent control, inventiveness, and skillful playing that led to outmaneuvering his competitors. The considerable dexterous play of Silva in football and his game sense very well reflect Kuldeep’s gripping his wrist-spin moves and tactical way of bowling, which usually perplexes hitters.

KL Rahul as Virgil van Dijk & Hardik Pandya as Wayne Rooney:

Kuldeep was amazed at how alike KL Rahul and Virgil van Dijk are while considering some of their special qualities like their coolness, dependability, and their capability to hold the middle order. As a rock-solid defense player, Van Dijk glues the team's batting order by batting in different formats, while Rahul challenges the pressure with ease, thereby giving their side stability.
Elsewhere, Hardik Pandya was likened to Wayne Rooney, which means he is bravely aggressive, omnipotent, and has the winner-takes-all mentality. Parallel to Pens' Rooney, Pandya gets to up his game when there's a do-or-die moment, using his abilities to the maximum the game over, be it striking or breaking the crucial wicket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal as Phil Foden:

Kuldeep was of the opinion that Yashasvi Jaiswal was like the very young Phil Foden because both of them were young, had immense talent, and were able to win matches by their own performances. Similar to Foden, who possesses the power of technique and instinct in attacking, Jaiswal is one of the strongest cricket talents of India, which we have found recently; he can play fearlessly and switch smoothly from T20's to the other formats.

Kuldeep’s comparisons have sparked engaging discussions among fans, drawing exciting parallels between cricket and football while showcasing the unique strengths of these players in their respective sports.

<![CDATA[MS Dhoni's Rare Display of Frustration: Insights from Michael Hussey]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ms-dhoni-s-rare-display-of-frustration-insights-from-michael-hussey/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ms-dhoni-s-rare-display-of-frustration-insights-from-michael-hussey/ Sat, 08 Mar 2025 07:52:55 GMT

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's exceptional calmness on the cricket pitch earned him the nickname ‘Captain Cool.’ However, even the greatest leaders can find themselves in a displeasing situation. A good example of this was shared by Michael Hussey, batting coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), during the IPL 2018 Qualifier 1 against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). His experience shocked many since he did not expect Dhoni to act that way. When it comes to Dhoni, his mindset assures that trusting one’s intuition is better than analyzing the situation.

The Rashid Khan Incident:

When Dhoni Brushed Off Data Just prior to the match, Hussey received some analysis of Rashid Khan's attack. As he prepared to deliver a googly the sign revealing his fingers, they were together which was the reason he would typically throw a leg-break, and they were split. Hussey was in two minds as to whether to give his players this last-gasp informational punch, but in the end he decided that it must be shared with his team including Dhoni.

When CSK were chest-deep in a tense chase, it looked like they needed a miracle. Dhoni strolled in with the team appearing to be in trouble. Unfortunately for him, one ball in from Rash, and it was over later for Dhoni – he tried a stunning cover drive, over the gully, off a googly and was bowled over instead. He came out to the Chapel looking fuming and shot a look straight to Hussey after he got down – "Thanks, but I will bat however I want," he remarked while taking a seat.

Dhoni, despite this rare incident of frustration:

Has always led with the calmness and coolness of a self-disciplined captain. He believes that performances speak louder than anything else and will refrain from sledging or verbal aggression. It is this ability to handle pressure without losing his cool that has set him apart as one of cricket's finest leaders through the ages.

It goes to show that Dhoni still trusted his instincts and experience implicitly; data and all the strategy math notwithstanding, intuition and self-belief will always be a better option in high-pressure scenarios.

Rajeev Shukla on MS Dhoni Political Future: A Shocking Revelation
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla recently said something very interesting about the former Indian cricket captain, MS Dhoni. Speaking with Ranveer Allahbadia on the YouTube channel BeerBiceps, Shukla was asked who could become the best politician.
"MS Dhoni," he replied without a second thought.
Shukla lauded Dhoni for his leadership qualities, temperament, and his ability to tackle pressure. According to him, all these make him a sure contender for the political arena as well. He believed that with widespread popularity and sound decision-making capabilities, Dhoni would surely flourish in politics as he had in cricket.

Shukla added that it is his considered view that till Sourav Ganguly entered politics from Bengal for he was instrumental for the rise of Bengal politicians. He considers that Dhoni has the chance of being another great leader from the cricket fields, too.
Shukla remembers a discussion when he straight away asked Dhoni if he was going to contest for a Lok Sabha seat. Dhoni dismissed the rumor, stating that he was never interested in politics. He always stayed away from public debates and controversies and devoted himself to personal and professional commitments.

Why Dhoni Won't Enter Politics
One of the major reasons Shukla cited regarding Dhoni not being interested in entering politics is his privacy factor. He added that Dhoni doesn't even carry a mobile phone regularly, which makes it very hard to get in touch with him. This makes it a fact that Dhoni really loves his peace and does not look for a political role which exerts the constant need to come out into the public arena.
