In a thrilling Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounter, the Kings dominated the match, posting a strong 175/7 and restricting Quetta to 119/9, winning by 56 runs. What followed was a hilarious and unforgettable moment as Hasan Ali mimicked Abrar’s signature head-nod celebration, turning it into a viral sensation across social media.

The lighthearted exchange between the two players quickly became the highlight of the match. Known for his energetic and animated celebrations, Hasan Ali added a fun twist after taking Abrar’s wicket. <![CDATA[WATCH: Karachi Kings’ controversial PSL 2025 gift for Hasan Ali sparks outrage again!]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/psl-2025-hasan-ali-s-reward-leaves-fans-confused-and-laughing/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/psl-2025-hasan-ali-s-reward-leaves-fans-confused-and-laughing/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 15:06:06 GMT

In PSL 2025, Karachi Kings have become infamous for their quirky gift choices, and their latest one is no exception. After handing a hairdryer to James Vince following his sensational century, the franchise has raised eyebrows again. This time, they decided to gift Hasan Ali a hair trimmer for his standout performance against Lahore Qalandars. Ali had bowled a brilliant spell, taking 4 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs, delivering some much-needed breakthroughs in a match where the other bowlers were struggling.

The hair trimmer gift was undoubtedly unusual, especially considering Ali’s remarkable contribution with the ball. Karachi Kings' team management chose not to present him with a more conventional reward like a medal or even a cash prize. Instead, they decided to go with a quirky, out-of-the-box item that left fans and critics scratching their heads. The gesture seemed to have missed the mark, with many questioning the team’s decision-making.

Despite Hasan Ali’s stellar performance, the gift did little to recognize the significance of his efforts on the field. The gift of a hair trimmer, while certainly memorable, appeared more like a comedic gesture than an appropriate acknowledgment of a match-winning effort. This unorthodox approach to awards has added to Karachi Kings' reputation for creating memorable moments—though not always for the right reasons.

Hasan Ali’s Priceless Reaction

In a now-viral video shared by the franchise, Hasan Ali examines his gift, a hair trimmer, and humorously asks, "Yeh haath ke baal ke liye bhi kaam karta hai kya?" (Does it work on arm hair too?). His deadpan reaction left fans in fits of laughter but also sparked questions about the team’s reward strategy. While Hasan took the moment in stride, cricket fans are divided—some find it a fun twist, while others feel it undermines the significance of recognizing a player’s performance. Twitter is overflowing with memes, and the hashtag "Hair Trimmer for 4 Wickets" is trending.

Though Karachi Kings may be struggling to win matches this season, they’re certainly making waves with their unconventional prize choices. If nothing else, they’re adding a quirky touch to PSL 2025, and Hasan Ali’s reaction has become the talk of the town.

<![CDATA['Viewers will leave IPL and watch us' - Star Pakistan cricketer makes bold statement before start of PSL 2025]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/viewers-will-leave-ipl-and-watch-us-star-pakistan-cricketer-makes-bold-statement-before-start-of-psl-2025/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/viewers-will-leave-ipl-and-watch-us-star-pakistan-cricketer-makes-bold-statement-before-start-of-psl-2025/ Wed, 09 Apr 2025 13:12:09 GMT

Pakistani pace bowler Hasan Ali has opened the floodgates with a bold comment on the rivalry between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL). With the whole upcoming PSL season coinciding with the IPL for the first time, Hasan opines that if the PSL produces world-class cricket and great entertainment, people will automatically prefer watching the PSL over the IPL. This clash of scheduling is because Pakistan had hosted the Champions Trophy prior in 2025, relegating the PSL's tenth season to play from April 11th through May 18th, 2025.

Hasan Ali, who will be representing the Karachi Kings in the forthcoming PSL, admitted that the performance of the Pakistani national cricket team can make a difference regarding the number of viewers for the league.
He spoke of the recent issues of the team, such as an early exit from the Champions Trophy and losses in recent series against New Zealand. But Hasan is hopeful. He feels that if the PSL teams deliver a great performance with quality cricket, people will be attracted to watch it. "Viewers watch the tournament where there's good cricket with entertainment. If we play well in the PSL, viewers will leave the IPL to watch us," Hasan Ali boldly asserted before the PSL season kicked off.

He believes that the secret to attracting viewers is straightforward: offer good cricket that is enjoyable to watch.
Though he acknowledges the IPL's age-old popularity and robust financial support, Hasan is confident that an entertaining and good-quality PSL season can draw a big crowd. Hasan's Hopefulness in the Fixtures Standoff

The concurrent scheduling of the IPL and PSL presents an interesting battle

The IPL, which started in 2008, has developed into a colossal international spectacle with a huge fan following and tremendous broadcasting rights. The PSL, launched later in 2015, has been slowly establishing its own presence and die-hard fans. The PSL, traditionally played during February and March, has now scheduled a direct rivalry with the cricket lovers across the world by moving the PSL to April-May. Hasan Ali's remarks point towards a deep sense of faith in the quality and popularity of the PSL. He stressed the importance of it being about the cricket itself providing thrilling matches and memorable performances that will keep the viewer stuck to his or her screens. Although the IPL has a much higher compensation for players as well as prizes, Hasan's remark indicates the passion and level of cricket being played in the PSL is a strong attractive force.

<![CDATA[Pakistani pace-bowling all-rounder to return to Warwickshire]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/pakistani-pace-bowling-all-rounder-to-return-to-warwickshire/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/pakistani-pace-bowling-all-rounder-to-return-to-warwickshire/ Sat, 25 Jan 2025 10:45:41 GMT

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali has agreed to return to his former country club Warwickshire and will be available to play all formats for the club throughout the 2025 season. His availability will begin from the T20 Blast which will take place in May and will extend all the way through to the end of September.

The 30-year-old has been absent from the grand scheme of things ever since he sustained an elbow injury at Edgbaston last year. After only five Vitality Blast appearances where he claimed 10 wickets, Hasan's campaign last year came to a premature end as a result of that injury. The speedster underwent surgery and has now been in rehab closely monitored by both Warwickshire and Pakistan's medical staff.

Hasan feels great to join forces with Warwickshire again

Hasan was thrilled to be back again for Warwickshire. Calling it his second home, his club is now starting to feel like his first home.

"I said last year that Edgbaston felt like a second home to me…but it's becoming more like a first home now. I love playing for Warwickshire, playing for the Bears fans. And I hope they see by the way I play how much I want to win for this club."

He further added that being awarded the prestigious White Bear Cap in the 2023 season was one of the proudest moments in his cricketing career. That was by far, the most significant milestone he ever stumbled upon in his short yet impactful Country career.

"Being awarded my White Bear Cap in 2023 was among the proudest moments in my career and I want to make lots more special memories with the Bears next season."

Warwickshire's head coach plays a key role in roping in Hasan Ali

Overall in nine County Championship appearances for Warwickshire across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Hasan has taken 27 scalps, 19 of them have been in the T20 Blast alone. His availability was limited last summer due to an unexpected late call-up to Pakistan's squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, Mark Robinson, the head coach of Warwickshire, stated that they had been in communication with the PCB regarding the acquisition of the player, who is no longer under a central contract, for a continuous period.

<![CDATA[Hasan Ali back to Pakistan T20I squad just ahead of the World Cup]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/hasan-ali-back-to-pakistan-t20i-squad-just-ahead-of-the-world-cup/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/hasan-ali-back-to-pakistan-t20i-squad-just-ahead-of-the-world-cup/ Thu, 02 May 2024 07:45:07 GMT

Pakistan has announced their 18-man squad for the upcoming seven T20Is during their expedition of Ireland and England. Pacer Hasan Ali makes a return to the squad after his last T20I appearance for Pakistan in September 2022. Joining him is Salman Ali Agha, a 30-year-old off spinning allrounder who is yet to play in the T20I format.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed that the World Cup squad will be selected from these 18 players and announced after the first T20I against England, scheduled for May 22. This decision aligns with the ICC deadline of May 24.

Also making a comeback to the squad are the fit-again Haris Rauf and Azam Khan, who were absent during the recent T20I series against New Zealand. However, there’s no place for wrist spinner Usama Mir and pacer Zaman Khan in the squad.

“Crafting this squad was a challenging task…”

Hasan Ali’s inclusion comes on the back of his impressive performances in the Pakistan Super League, where he picked 14 wickets, matching the performances of Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi in the season.

“Crafting this squad was a challenging task due to the outstanding talent available. After thorough deliberation and considering various cricketing aspects, we have finalised these 18 players,” PCB Added.

Salman’s selection is based on his spin-bowling abilities, which could be crucial on slow pitches in the Caribbean and the USA. He will join Abrar Ahmed, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, and Shadab Khan in the spin department.

Pakistan makes strong team with wise selection

Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who were recalled for the recent home series against New Zealand, have retained their spots in the squad. They will aim to deliver strong performances in the four T20Is before the final squad of 15 is decided.

PCB continued, “The squad encompasses a robust top-order featuring Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan; an effective middle-order with Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Irfan Khan; versatile all-rounders in Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan and Salman Ali Agha; a pace battery led by Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi; and the spin prowess of Abrar Ahmed.

“We understand Usama and Zaman will be disappointed and they should be as they must be looking ahead to the tours of Ireland and England. They are quality cricketers and have long careers ahead of them. They need to continue to focus on their cricket so that they are available, if required.”

The team is scheduled to depart for Dublin on May 7, following a three-day training camp in Lahore from May 4 to May 6.
