The 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction will take place in Dubai on December 19 for the first time outside India. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who have done well in their first two seasons, will look to bring in a few outstanding players to construct a strong squad for the upcoming season.

With five slots remaining, the Lucknow-based business has INR 13.9 Crores in the bank. In both seasons, KL Rahul’s team made the playoffs but failed to win a game in the knockout stages. Let’s look at the three players LSG can pursue in the IPL 2024 mini-auction as they seek to break the impasse this time.

 • Michael Bracewell

Michael Bracewell, the Kiwi talent, might be one of the Lucknow Super Giants’ best bargains at the IPL 2024 auctions in Dubai. Bracewell is a useful off-spinner who can be a deadly hitter in the end stages of an innings. If LSG can get the Kiwi, he will significantly impact ending games and meeting the team’s spinning criteria.

 • Kartik Tyagi

LSG traded bowler Avesh Khan to Rajasthan Royals for top-order batsman Devdutt Padikkal. So, there is a need for an Indian fast bowler, and Kartik Tyagi is the ideal candidate for the job. The 23-year-old has 15 wickets in 19 IPL outings and has bowled some outstanding death overs. Given his potential, LSG may place an offer for him at the future auction.

 • Hrithik Shokeen

Hrithik Shokeen will not be a regular starter for the Lucknow Super Giants, but he can serve as an excellent backup to Krishnappa Gowtham. Deepak Hooda had a miserable season, and if he doesn’t step up, LSG will be forced to rely on Gowtham as an off-spinner.

Hrithik Shokeen adds value as a batter and can bat in the bottom order if necessary. He also has past league experience, which would be beneficial to him. As a result, Shokeen might be included in LSG’s IPL 2024 auction plan.

After wreaking havoc on retention day, the Mumbai Indians have recently emerged as the most talked-about franchise. They have got their beloved all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, from the Gujarat Titans to complete one of the most significant trades in league history. Later, the five-time champions sent Cameron Green to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in yet another unexpected move.

MI still has a few seats vacant in their blue arsenal, so it will be interesting to see who they will sign during the IPL 2024 auction. They only have 17.75 crores to play with in the auction. Here are the top four likely purchases by the five-time IPL winners in the coming mini-auction.

 • Wanindu Hasaranga

Royal Challengers Bangalore unexpectedly released Wanindu Hasaranga, which might be a blessing in disguise for Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai Indians should try to sign him since he is a spinner and a decent pinch-hitter in the lower order.

The Mumbai Indians could use someone like Hasaranga, a foreign spinner who would be an excellent addition to the club. However, considering the fact that multiple teams will be fighting for him, he may be expensive.

 • Jason Holder

With a robust need for an all-rounder that can support the top Indian all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, the MI management can give their hands on acquiring the Caribbean all-rounder, Jason Holder, with an ability to hit big shots at the very crucial moments and scalping some vital wickets for the team.

His addition to the team would strengthen the lower middle-order batting lineup, and he is a potential candidate to substitute the role and impact what Kieron Pollard has created for the five-time champions.

 • Kartik Tyagi

The Mumbai Indians are one of the franchises keeping an eye on Kartik Tyagi. Kartik may serve as a backup for either Jasprit Bumrah or Akash Madhwal on the team.

He’s an excellent pick since he can hit the deck quickly. MI benefited from being a domestic speedster as well, as they had released a considerable number of pacers before the auction.

<![CDATA[IPL 2022: Previous Season's Talents Who are on the Bench.]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2022-previous-seasons-talents-who-are-on-the/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2022-previous-seasons-talents-who-are-on-the/ Fri, 29 Apr 2022 06:21:21 GMT

IPL 2022 continues to roll on after the Mega Auction. The Mega Auction saw some suprising and interesting buys, and below are a few players who were bought for their exploits in the previous seasons but have still not been used despite being in decent touch following IPL 2021.

Kartik Tyagi

Kartik Tyagi was a key member in the Royals bowling line-up last season. His pace and aggression made him a valuable asset in a line-up with Jofra Archer. Last season, without Jofra Archer, Kartik Tyagi continued to be effective when given chances. His success found him a spot on the touring Indian team to Australia, and he also defended four runs in the final over against PBKS to bring him into the spotlight.

He was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the auction ahead of IPL 2022. With a string of pacers such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik and T Natarajan ahead of him, Kartik Tyagi is left warming the bench and is still waiting for his chance in IPL 2022

Chetan Sakariya

Chetan Sakariya was the find of IPL 2022 with his left-arm seam bowling. He took some key wickets last season and turned out to be a key member in their bowling unit. His left-arm variety brings a new dimension to the line-up, and his success last season also saw him get into the Indian Team.

This season, he is with the Delhi Capitals, but hasn’t been given a chance up until now as the Capitals went with the experience of Khaleel Ahmed. Eight games in, Sakariya finally got a go in his eighth game and did a handy job, which could help him keep his place for a few more games in IPL 2022.

Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje was retained by the Delhi Capitals but is coming off a long injury lay-off. He was one of their best bowlers over the last two years, rattling teams with raw pace, but hasn’t looked himself in the one game he played for them so far. Struggling to find rhythm and with constant niggles, Anrich Nortje has only managed only one game out of eight, but is likely to comeback into the side soon considering he is a key member of the pace attack.

KS Bharat

KS Bharat was a key member in the RCB side last season as a keeper and a number three batter. He was consistent through the season and also won them a last over thriller against the Delhi Capitals. His performances helped him earn a spot in the Indian team, and in the auctions he was hot property.

He ended up in the Delhi Capitals, but to his misfortune the side already has a strong keeper in Rishabh Pant who is irreplaceable After aa wonderful season last year, KS Bharat has spent a lot of time on the bench in IPL 2022 and may only get his chance if the Delhi Capitals select him as a pure batter.

Abdul Samad

Abdul Samad was a surprise retention for SRH. He has a reputation for hitting big shots in the end and has cleared the ropes on a number of occasions in the death overs to get SRH to decent positions. His statistics aren’t the most colorful, but the 20-year old has shown some potential in the past as to why he could be a handy player in the side.

After being retained though, Abdul Samad has only played two games, scoring four runs and all of a sudden his retention doesn’t look too good. With SRH having a settled line-up, he is unlikely to get too many games this year and will mostly remain on the bench through IPL 2022 despite the early potential shown.
