In a mid-season shake-up, the Mumbai Indians have signed in South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for another South African player, Lizaad Williams, ruled out of IPL 2025. MI confirmed his signing on its official channels, with the announcement only coming just before the start of the tournament.

He fetched a sum of precious price at the IPL 2025 auction and has not made it into the training camps because he suffered from an injury. MI did not speak about the specific conditions that would cause him to be absent, with his unavailability leading the side to look for an eventual replacement.

Corbin Bosch comes in to fill the void. He is a 29-year-old all-rounder who can bowl at a sharp seam and bat in the lower middle order. Recently, his performances in domestic and franchise cricket have made him a promising candidate for an IPL gig.

He has made a name for himself as one of the more reliable bowlers out there having played in the SA20 League and other T20 circuits, while he can also increase the scoring rate when needed. In the past, he had been part of the Rajasthan Royals setup as a net bowler so IPL is right up his alley.

Bosch's inclusion is, in fact, a much-needed addition that provides Mumbai Indians with substantial depth in their bowling attack, complemented by Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee, and Jason Behrendorff. MI has a rich history of grooming overseas talent, so Bosch will be keen to make the utmost of this golden opportunity.

This time around, five-time IPL champions have taken a few strategic decisions regarding their squad, focusing on a balanced mix of youth and experience. After the exit of key players from last season, the team management was looking to find the fresh faces who would be able to come up to the occasion.

With Bosch being included, MI fans will be very eager to see how he fits into the team and whether he can make a significant impact in the biggest T20 league in the world.

Delhi Capitals have brought in South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams to fill in for Harry Brook, who had to step back from IPL 2024 due to his grandmother’s passing away.

Williams is set to make his IPL debut after being signed by the Capitals for a base price of INR 50 lakh. His addition will strengthen the team’s pace attack, which already includes players like Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Jhye Richardson, and Mukesh Kumar. Additionally, the team boasts two pace-bowling all-rounders in Mitchell Marsh and Sumit Kumar.

Notably, Lungi Ngidi, another South African pacer in the Capitals’ squad, has opted out of the tournament to focus on his recovery from a lower-back injury sustained during the SA20 earlier in the year.

His joining impacts the team

His recent performance in the SA20 league, where he claimed 15 wickets for Joburg Super Kings, demonstrates his form and potential impact in the IPL. Williams’ arrival comes at a crucial time for the Capitals, as Mitchell Marsh is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for at least a week.
