Veteran player KL Rahul and Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka made headlines since they lost their recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad after the animated on-field conversation. Their conversation has raised speculation that Rahul might quit captaincy.

LSG didn’t have a great time in IPL 2024

However, as per reports, Sanjiv Goenka recently invited KL Rahul for dinner at his place amid all the controversies. Earlier some media reports also claimed that Goenka reportedly apologised to KL Rahul after getting thrashed on social media. Some reports also shared that Rahul might be relieved of captaincy and vice-captain Nicholas Pooran could lead the team.

Reports also suggested that KL Rahul won’t be picked in the auction which will be held at the end of the year as well. However, sources close to LSG refuted all these rumours and said, “Everything is fine between the two” and “only Rahul will be leading the team this season”.

“It’s all rumours that Rahul will be displaced from the captaincy and won’t be picked in the auction. The last match didn’t go our way, but everything is fine now between the team and owners. Rahul is in good space and taking rest before the game against DC,” sources close to LSG said to IANS.

KL Rahul has faced a mixed season

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants assistant coach Lance Klusener has also opened up on this.

“I don’t see any problem with some robust discussion between two cricket lovers. I don’t see any problem with that. For us, I guess, it’s just a storm in a teacup. We love a robust discussion, I think that’s how teams get better. So, it’s not a big thing for us,” he said.

“We’ve got two games to go. It doesn’t really matter what’s happened in the past, whether we’ve won or lost, it makes no difference to us. We’re focusing on the next two games. And how best we can get over the line in both of them. Whether we then qualify or not, I guess, that’s of our making from the way we played. But, our focus really is just to getover the line tomorrow and then we’ll worry about Mumbai after that,” he concluded.
