BAN vs ENG: Mehidy Hasan Miraz represented himself in this game, and starred with 4 for 12 in the bowl, leading in the defeat of England for 117, in BAN vs ENG. Then, with seven balls remaining, Najmul Hossain Shanto led Bangladesh in a challenging run chase with a score of 46* in 47 balls. Moreover, it wasn’t quite as simple for Bangladesh in PowerPlay as it was for England. In the first six overs, the hosts lost two wickets, with Curran first removing Litton Das in the deep and Jofra Archer then bouncing out Rony Talukdar.

With 32/2 after the PowerPlay, Bangladesh was in a difficult spot. As England took three wickets in the run of 11 balls, including that of Shakib, they had a little window of opportunity, but Najmul and Taskin combined their efforts to hit Jordan for 15 runs in the 19th over, winning the game and the series. Mehidy Hasan’s all-round performance earned him a player of the match award.

However, England was not left behind. They also give a tricky start. After the PowerPlay in BAN vs ENG, they were 50/1, and after losing Dawid Malan, Philip Salt, and Moeen Ali targeted Bangladesh. Taskin Ahmed’s special bowling spell gave only 19 runs in just 3 overs, which bowled in the powerplay of the game. It wasn’t until the final over of the PowerPlay that Nasum Ahmed was bowled for 13 runs, allowing England to reach the total after the first six.

Phil Salt provided a great start to England and he scored 25 in just 19 balls. But, Shakib Al Hasan then bowled Salt after getting a catch and a bounce. Following that, England continued to lose wickets and confidence. England captain Jos Buttler said in post-presentation of BAN vs ENG, “I thought it was an outstanding bowling performance to defend a low total, we bowled without luck as well but really proud of everyone’s effort”.

To give some more push Buttler added “It was a different game of T20 cricket, exciting as well but credit to Bangladesh. There is no good way to get out, but it was a tough wicket to start on and Duckett was doing well, we needed someone to stay with him.”

The tourists were on a precarious 45-4 after 14 wickets tumbled on a frenetic day three — half of them in the final session alone. Axar Patel, promoted to number four, was batting on 26 at stumps with nightwatchman Jaydev Unadkat on three at the other end. Earlier, Bangladesh posted 231 in their second innings largely because of Litton Das’ sparkling 73 before being all out in the final session. Home captain Shakib Al Hasan played a loose shot and Mushfiqur Rahim fell cheaply too but Zakir Hasan made a patient 51 taking Bangladesh past the 100-mark. Having conceded a first-innings lead of 87, Bangladesh slumped to 113-6 but added 118 for the last four wickets after Litton, Bangladesh’s last recognised batsman, counter-attacked in the company of tailenders. He had luck on his side too. Virat Kohli twice dropped Litton in the slip off Patel and Ashwin respectively.

Ishan Kishan smashed the fastest double hundred in the history of ODI cricket as India beat Bangladesh by 227 runs. In the inconsequential third and final match here on Saturday. Put in to bat, Kishan blasted 210 off 131 balls. While Virat Kohli (113) also slammed his first ODI hundred since August 2019 to power India to a massive 409 for 8.

Massive win for the Indian side, despite losing series by 2-1

India was put into bat by the Bangladesh skipper Litton Das. Despite losing Shikhar Dhawan early, India amassed a huge 409 runs courtesy of Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli. Ishan Kishan scored his first career hundred, and continued his trailer blaze to rack up a double hundred. Kishan scored 210 runs off just 131 balls, making him the youngest player to score an ODI double hundred. He was expertly guided by Virat Kohli, who went on to score his 72nd career hundred, his first ODI century in more than three years. Washington Sundar also played a decent cameo of 37 at the latter end to take India’s score beyond the 400 mark.

In reply, Bangladesh couldn’t put up a lot of resistance. Axar Patel got the first wicket by picking up Anamul Haque and Mohammed Siraj also took the big wicket of captain Litton Das. After that, it was wickets in regular intervals for India as the hosts couldn’t build a proper partnership. Umran Malik, and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each while Shardul Thakur cleaned up the tail as Bangladesh was bowled out for a paltry 182.

<![CDATA[Mehidy Hasan Miraj Transforms From Bowler to All-Rounder]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/mehidy-hasan-miraj-transforms-from-bowler-to-all-rounder/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/mehidy-hasan-miraj-transforms-from-bowler-to-all-rounder/ Sat, 10 Dec 2022 02:39:35 GMT

Bangladesh beating India always calls for special performances. Mashrafe produced one in 2007, Mustafizur produced a pair of beautiful spells to seal the series in 2015 and now Mehidy Hasan stands up with the bat to give Bangladesh their second series win in India. His pair of performances and the mindset at which he played helped Miraj set into the role of Bangladesh’s crisis man.

In both games, Mehidy Hasan Miraj presented himself as a composed batter helping get Bangladesh a series win with a game to spare. The knocks proved his ability as a player who could finish an innings, not through just big-hitting but understanding the situation. When he joined Mahmudullah, Bangladesh’s crisis man for the last decade, Mehidy Hasan took his time. He understood the situation and countered beautifully as the innings progressed.

His work with the bat has consistently grown. In the New Zealand Test earlier this year he provided some handy runs lower down the order, which proved handy as Bangladesh won a historic Test in New Zealand. Against Afghanistan, Mehidy Hasan again held on and bought his team back with the bat. He proved his bowling heroics in the home season last year and later against South Africa as well, earlier this year.

Against India, Mehidy Hasan Miraj produced a tight spell with the ball in the first innings. With the bat though, he was full of composure. With 51 needed for the last wicket, the heat was on. Miraj though picked his bowlers well and added another chapter to the lesson books about how to win a game with just one wicket in hand.

In the second game, Mehidy Hasan Miraj finished with a maiden ODI Century he once thought was beyond him. He walked in at 69-6 with Bangladesh in a huge crisis. Batting with Mahamudullah, Miraj launched a counter-attack and took Bangladesh to 271-7. The score proved to be enough as Bangladesh won by five runs.

Out in the middle, Miraj bought a lot of belief to his process. He spoke about being trusted and backed well by the Bangladesh unit which has helped him dearly. The results though are expected. Prior to the T20 World Cup, Mehidy Hasan did get a chance as an opener. He opened the batting and had some time to face the new-ball. He did not get to continue in the role, but his time out in the middle helped him grow in confidence.

Starting as an out and out spinner, Mehidy Hasan has come a long way. He ran through the English unit early in his career in Test Cricket and has also displayed incredible maturity in Under-19 competitions. Now, after gaining some experience, Mehidy Hasan Miraj is transforming into a proper all-rounder.
