Nehal Wadhera has been one of the bright spots for Punjab Kings this season, and during a special moment earlier in the tournament, he got to meet one of his cricketing idols Virat Kohli. The young PBKS batter recalled the memorable interaction he had with the RCB star during their clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Wadhera said he was left stunned when Kohli, even before the match started, greeted him warmly and in Punjabi.
“I was actually really shocked when before the match, Virat bhai was standing and talking to Shreyas Iyer, and suddenly said, ‘Ki haal chaal, Nehal?’ (How are you doing, Nehal?),” Wadhera recalled with a smile. “I wasn’t expecting him to remember my name. That made me really happy.”

Wadhera also mentioned that he had always dreamt of speaking to Kohli and would often tell his teammates like Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav about it. “Till last year, I used to tell either Tilak or Surya bhai that I really wanted to talk to Virat bhai once,” he said.

That dream came true this season. After the match, Wadhera walked up to Kohli and asked him for advice on how he could improve his game. “As soon as the match finished, I went up to him and asked, ‘Virat bhai, you’ve seen me for the last two years and this year what do you think?’”

Wadhera said the conversation was a real confidence-booster.
“It was really good talking to him and I enjoyed it a lot. His words reinforced my belief and helped me understand how to approach the game better,” the 24-year-old said. It's moments like these that show just how much a few kind words from a senior player can mean to a young cricketer trying to make his mark.

The IPL 2025 season is heating up, and as always, Virat Kohli finds himself right in the middle of the action. As the tournament reaches a critical stage, every match is beginning to feel like a mini-final. The clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) has quietly grown into a fierce rivalry. After PBKS outplayed RCB in their previous encounter, this fixture at the Kings’ home ground was seen as a golden opportunity for RCB to strike back and settle scores.

Fans across social media were buzzing with excitement ahead of the game, throwing around terms like “revenge” to describe the intense build-up. With both sides eyeing a spot in the playoffs, the stakes were higher than ever. PBKS began their innings strongly thanks to a decent start from openers Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (33). However, after the fall of the first wicket, the batting lineup struggled to maintain momentum as the RCB bowlers tightened their grip in the middle overs.

The match reached its turning point during the ninth over when a bizarre and hilarious mix-up between Josh Inglis and Nehal Wadhera led to a crucial runout. Both batters ended up stranded at the same end, and the RCB fielders were quick to capitalize. Virat Kohli, always sharp on the field, was at the center of the moment, celebrating passionately after Wadhera was sent back to the pavilion for just 5 runs off 6 balls. Kohli’s fiery reaction went viral, capturing the high stakes and tension of the budding PBKS-RCB rivalry.

PBKS batters succumbed under relentless RCB bowling

Punjab Kings managed 157/6 in their 20 overs, starting strong with a brisk opening partnership. Priyansh Arya scored 22 off 15 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh added 33 off 17, helping PBKS reach 62/2 early on. However, the middle order faltered with skipper Shreyas Iyer falling cheaply for 6. Nehal Wadhera’s stay was cut short due to a miscommunication with Josh Inglis, resulting in a run-out in the ninth over. Inglis remained the top scorer with a quick 29 off 17 balls before falling to Suyash Sharma.

The finishing touches were left to Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen, who added stability with unbeaten knocks of 31* and 25*, respectively. Despite their efforts, PBKS couldn’t accelerate in the death overs. Krunal Pandya was impressive with 2/20, while Suyash Sharma also struck twice. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled economically, but others like Hazlewood and Shepherd proved expensive. The early promise faded, leaving PBKS with a par total at best.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a five-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 34 of IPL 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, April 18. After RCB managed to post a modest total of 95 runs, PBKS chased it down successfully, thanks largely to Nehal Wadhera’s composed knock. Despite the low target, the chase wasn't entirely smooth, and Wadhera’s steady hand ensured PBKS crossed the finish line.

Wadhera anchored the innings during a shaky middle phase, finishing unbeaten on 33 off just 19 deliveries, including three fours and a six. His calm presence at the crease proved crucial in what could have been a tricky run chase. However, some frustrated RCB fans reacted poorly to the loss, reportedly directing online abuse toward Wadhera, especially through comments on his Instagram profile.

A video recently made its way online showing teammate Harpreet Brar on Instagram Live while the Punjab Kings squad was heading back from the stadium on the team bus. During the stream, Nehal Wadhera could be seen reading the live comments and remarked, “They’re abusing me, really abusing me in the comments section,” expressing surprise and a bit of disappointment at the harsh reactions from some viewers.

PBKS have jumped to second spot after win

RCB has struggled to capitalize on its home advantage this season, suffering its third loss at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With four more home matches remaining, they now face a tough road ahead. To secure a spot in the playoffs, RCB must win at least four of their remaining seven games. Despite posting a low total, RCB fought hard in the second innings, picking up five wickets, with excellent performances from Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

On the other hand, PBKS registered their fifth win of the season, climbing to second place in the IPL 2025 Points Table. With just three more wins needed to confirm their playoff spot, PBKS is in a strong position. It will be intriguing to see how they perform in the remaining matches of the tournament.

The 34th match of IPL 2025 was held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a solid victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 5 wickets. Chasing a modest target of 96 runs in a 14-over-per-side game, PBKS comfortably crossed the finish line with 11 balls remaining, marking their fifth win of the season. The game was initially delayed due to rain, leading to a reduced-over format that added a layer of urgency to the proceedings.

RCB, after being invited to bat first by PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer, struggled right from the start. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Phil Salt in the very first over, followed by Virat Kohli, who managed only a single run. Captain Rajat Patidar was the lone top-order batter to make a noticeable contribution, scoring 23 runs off 18 balls. The rest of the batting lineup failed to perform, with players like Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Kunal Pandya falling cheaply, leaving RCB at 63 for 9.

Amid the collapse, Tim David stood tall with a stunning unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, including five boundaries and three sixes, helping RCB reach a total of 95 in their 14 overs. For PBKS, the bowling unit delivered an impressive performance, with Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Harpreet Brar taking two wickets each, while Xavier Bartlett picked up one. The combined effort from the bowlers and a steady chase ensured a comfortable win for Punjab Kings in this rain-affected clash.

Punjab Kings had to struggle in the run chase

While chasing a modest target of 96 runs, Punjab Kings had a shaky start. Prabhsimran Singh was the first to fall, scoring 13 runs before being dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the team score at 22. Soon after, Priyansh Arya was sent back for 16 off 11 balls by Josh Hazlewood. Captain Shreyas Iyer also failed to leave a mark, managing just 7 runs before falling to Hazlewood as well. Josh Inglis added 14 runs off 17 balls, but the required momentum was still missing.

The tide turned when Nehal Wadhera stepped in and changed the game with a fiery knock. Wadhera smashed 33 runs off just 19 deliveries, laced with three boundaries and three towering sixes, effectively sealing the match for Punjab Kings. From the Royal Challengers’ bowling lineup, Hazlewood was the standout performer with 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his three overs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar chipped in with 2 wickets for 26 runs. Despite their efforts, Punjab's middle-order power proved too strong in the end.
