Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, NK Reddy, and Heinrich Klaasen are the most power-loaded batting line-up of the ongoing IPL 2025, at least on pen and paper. Last night, SRH managed to score only 190 for 9 wickets, just to be defeated by LSG with the help of West Indian swashbuckling batter Nicolas Pooran, who scored a match-winning 70 runs off 26 balls with a strike rate a little over 269.

In the video, shared on the social media platform by LSG, we can hear Pooran delivering a dialogue, "Hum tumhe itne chakke marenge ki confuse ho jaaoge..." (I'll hit so many sixes that you'll be confused). This was not a mere dialogue from Pooran; that's the fact. Because, in his 70-run innings, he scored 60 runs by dealing with boundaries and over-boundaries; six 4s and six 6s were enough for the middle-order batter to decorate his thunderous innings. 

LSG chased down the 191 target with 23 balls and 5 wickets to spare. Lucknow Super Giants opener Mitchell Marsh (52 runs against 31 balls) spent no time to offer his team a flying start. But it was Pooran who ensured the victory for LSG after losing Aiden Markram when the team score was only 4. From there, it was the Marsh and Pooran duo all over the place. Experienced bowlers from the opposition side, like Mohammed Shami, Pat Cummins, and Adam Zampa, had no option but to concede runs.

In a thrilling match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) of IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first and made 190 runs from a total of 20 overs, with Travis Head leading the scoring with a performance of 47 runs from 28 balls. Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants was the most successful bowler with 4 wickets for 32 runs. Lucknow Super Giants started well chasing the total, making what turned out to be a very unchallenging task. Shardul Thakur: After remaining unsold in the mega auctions, Shardul Thakur is outstanding. After his incredible domestic cricket season as an all-rounder, Thakur has joined LSG as a replacement and picked up two wickets in his first over of the IPL 2025. Despite bowling well in his two overs, Thakur was not allowed to complete his quota, and LSG suffered a surprise one-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals. In LSG’s first match of IPL 2025 against Delhi Capitals on March 24, Pooran played a quick 42 off 23 balls, but LSG fell short in a 209/8 chase against DC’s 228/5. Tristan Stubbs scored 34 off 22 balls (one four and three sixes), while Vipraj Nigam scored 39 off 15 balls (five fours and two sixes) and Ashutosh Sharma fought till the end to bravely finish the game for the Capitals as they chased down the target in 19.3 overs with a sixer from the hero Sharma with only one wicket in hand. 

With the help of five fours and five sixes, Ashutosh Sharma scored 66 not out off 31 balls to secure the stunning win. Here are some key stats of the match.

Ravi Bishnoi played his 44th match for Lucknow Super Giants. 

• With this match, Bishnoi surpassed Krunal Pandya's 43-match record for Lucknow Super Giants and set a new record for the most matches for LSG. Also, it was Ayush Badoni's 43rd match for LSG. 

Mitchell Marsh completed his half-century in just 21 balls.

• It was his fastest IPL fifty and his joint-fastest fifty in T20 cricket.  

With his seven sixes, Nicholas Pooran recorded 606 T20 sixes.

• Pooran became the fourth batter in T20 cricket history to hit 600+ sixes. The other names in this list are Chris Gayle (1056 sixes), Kieron Pollard (908 sixes), and Andre Russell (733 sixes).
  

Lucknow Super Giants completed their 100 runs in 8.1 overs.

• It was LSG's second-fastest 100-run completion. Their record is completing the first 100 runs in 7.4 overs against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023.

Delhi Capitals successfully chased down the 210-run target in 19.3 overs.

• Delhi Capitals recorded their highest-ever successful chase. Their previous record was successfully chasing the 209-run target against Gujarat Lions in 2017. 

Nicholas Pooran's innings was one of the most breathtaking displays of power hitting as he scored 28 runs in an over where he hit four consecutive sixes and a four. His remarkable batting put the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a good position and mentally boosted fans with his effortful intent.

The opposition being stunned due to him clearing the ropes with such versatility made this outstanding and impactful, where not only did it help lower LSG's scoring deficit but also put them in a dominating situation.

Eventually getting caught out during a sensational 75 runs off 30 balls played, Pooran achieved a staggering strike rate of 250 throughout the innings, which included six fours and seven sixes.

Having single-handedly maintained a solid foundation for a huge sum total the way he did while scoring proved deeply why Pooran was regarded as one of the most dangerous finishers in T20 cricket.

Nicholas said after the game that, by the rules, Tom was out, but he has a simple belief that being kind and honest is very important too. The game was really close, and everyone was sitting on the edge of their seats. The Gulf Giants had to get 17 runs, got pretty intense. Fazalhaq made it hard for the Gulf Giants. Almost all foreign players are utility players who may be draughted into the XI, depending on the field circumstances.

LSG's first-choice pacers will include Shamar Joseph, Mayank Yadav, Akashdeep Singh, and Mohsin Khan. But if any of them are injured, LSG's pace assault will weaken, forcing them to settle for less effective choices. Though Mayank Yadav is a promising campaigner for the Indian Cricket team, thanks to his lethal pace, his consistency and agility will be under the radar for his future performance.

Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan, Shamar Joseph and Akashdeep Singh possess impeccable pace. However, their experience in the shortest game format amongst the power-hitters would be scrutinised, making it a quality unit that lacked understanding. Only time will tell about how much impact they would create with quick deliveries.
