Bangladesh are in the lead and are doing well with a young side. The bowlers are looking good and have been putting the New Zealand batters under some trouble.

NZ vs BAN Key Players

Glenn Phillips

Glenn Phillips has been one of the most dangerous batters in the World over the last year. He is doing his part well and has doubled up as a handy bowler too making him a multi-utility player. With time on his side the best could be yet to come as he grows into his career.

Shoriful Islam

Shoriful Islam is another player who silently did his job in recent times. He is bowling pretty well and has impressed in the first T20.

NZ vs BAN Match Tips

With a flat pitch and a lot of runs likely in the next game New Zealand could find themselves favorites. They have a strong batting unit, and will be better off with assessing conditions despite losing the first game.

NZ vs BAN Key Players

Liton Das

Liton Das has been under the scanner a touch in the last year. His performances on the field and some of his actions off-field have been a concern with the BCB as his performances are now getting overshadowed. Runs from him though will help remind me once more that he is a valuable player on the side.

Will Young

The competition for an opener spot is tight and Will Young continues to compete with a strong century. He is a good batter and with Rachin Ravindra for competition, Young knows that he has a job on hand.

NZ vs BAN Match Tips

Bangladesh continue to have concerns with both bat and ball while New Zealand are looking pretty solid.

New Zealand is poised to commence their World Test Championship cycle with a two-Test series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh starting on November 28, and Captain Tim Southee foresees spin playing a significant role. Although New Zealand, renowned for thriving in pace-friendly conditions at home, has not played a Test in Bangladesh since 2013, their full-strength squad, bolstered by spin specialists like Ish Sodhi and Ajaz Patel, is well-prepared for the challenge.

The squad also includes spinners Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, and Rachin Ravindra, with Santner and Ravindra returning to the Test side after gaps since 2021 and early 2022, respectively. Southee expresses confidence in his spin attack, anticipating their success against a Bangladesh side without key batters Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das.

In the absence of Shakib and Litton, New Zealand’s formidable lineup, featuring Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham, and Devon Conway, aims to confront Bangladesh’s spinners, including Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Southee acknowledges the absence of Shakib and Litton but believes it provides an opportunity for others to step into those roles.

Southee expects a competitive showing from Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, even without key players like Shakib, Litton, Ebadot Hossain, and Taskin Ahmed. The first Test is scheduled for November 28 in Sylhet, followed by the second in Dhaka on December 6.

New Zealand has announced its squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which marks the second leg of their tour to Bangladesh following a previous T20I series held in September. The Test series is set to kick off on November 28 in Sylhet, with a two-day practice match scheduled just before the official series opener.

Spin Focus: Inclusion of Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra

New Zealand’s squad selection for the Bangladesh tour places significant emphasis on spin bowling. Notably, experienced campaigner Mitchell Santner and the promising talent Rachin Ravindra have been included in the squad.

Mitchell Santner, who last played a Test match in 2021, displayed an impressive performance during the Plunkett Shield season, claiming 15 wickets with an average of 26.00. Rachin Ravindra, a standout performer in the ongoing World Cup, returns to Test cricket after his last appearance in New Zealand’s home series against Bangladesh in January 2022.

A Strong Spin Contingent

Santner and Ravindra join a formidable spin unit that already features the likes of Ajaz Patel and Ish Sodhi. Additionally, all-rounder Glenn Phillips provides extra spin options for the New Zealand side under the leadership of Tim Southee.

Selector Sam Wells expressed confidence in the spin group, praising Rachin Ravindra’s development, his left-arm orthodox spin, and his notable batting performances in the World Cup.

Kyle Jamieson, who has recovered from back surgery in February, returns to bolster the Test squad, providing a different dimension to the pace attack. Unfortunately, New Zealand will miss the services of senior pace bowler Trent Boult during the upcoming tour.

New Zealand Test Squad for Bangladesh Tour:

  • Tim Southee (c)
  • Kane Williamson
  • Tom Blundell (wk)

NZ vs BAN Match Preview

In Chennai, New Zealand will face Bangladesh in Match 11 of the 2023 Cricket World Cup. New Zealand leads the group stage with two wins from two, including convincing 99-run and nine-wicket victories over the Netherlands and England. Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in their first match before falling to England by 137 runs on Tuesday. New Zealand have found their form in this format at the right time and look set to take their team to the next level with the return of their skipper. Despite the fact that the pitch may favor some of Bangladesh’s players. With so many strong spin bowling options, Bangladesh will consider the pitch in Chennai to be in their favor. However, the Tigers’ inability to score enough runs has been a problem in recent months.

Topmost Picks for NZ vs BAN Dream11 Prediction:

Top Picks – New Zealand

  • Devon Conway – The left-handed opener has hit 184 runs already in the tournament and enjoyed playing at this ground for Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 IPL across April and May.
  • Trent Boult – It was a rare wicketless ODI for the left-arm pace bowler against the Netherlands but he impressed with his accuracy throughout. He took 2-33 in the last ODI against Bangladesh last month.

Top Picks – Bangladesh

  • Litton Das – The right-handed opener was the only one of Bangladesh’s top five to make a double figure score on Tuesday. He will be looking to build on his nine boundaries from that match in this fixture.
  • Shoriful Islam – The left-arm pace bowler was expensive against England but still showed his ability to dismiss the best players as he picked up the wickets of Jos Buttler, Joe Root and Liam Livingstone.

NZ vs BAN Probable Winners

The big win for New Zealand over the current champions was a big surprise to start the tournament, and more upsets should be expected as the tournament progresses. A win for the Bangladesh in Hyderabad, on the other hand, would be an even bigger surprise in this match on Monday. New Zealand has won all of their previous meetings with the Bangladesh, and we do not expect that to change in this game. Overall, we predict that New Zealand will win easily. Considering the team combination, New Zealand is expected to win this match.

NZ vs BAN, T20I: New Zealand 208 for 5 (Conway 64, Phillips 60, Saifuddin 2-37) beat Bangladesh 160 for 7 (Shakib 70, Litton 23, Milne 3-23) by 48 runs

By defeating Bangladesh by 48 runs in Christchurch, New Zealand joined Pakistan in the tri-series final. Adam Milne and Michael Bracewell made early inroads to bowl the hosts to a comprehensive victory after Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips scored quick sixes. Although Bangladesh appeared to be competitive with the bat, they were unable to maintain momentum in their pursuit of a score of over 200.

The chase was broken by Milne’s three wickets, and his speed made a difference. Tim Southee, who took over for Bracewell, finished with two wickets. With eight fours and a six, Shakib Al Hasan hit 70 off 44 balls, but there was no middle or lower order support. After being given the bat, New Zealand, on the other hand, put in a lot of strong batting performances.

Conway builds on Allen’s start Finn Allen started the same way he did against Pakistan in the previous match, going after Bangladesh’s bowlers in the first over. In the third over, he hit three boundaries and struck Ebadot Hossain for two sixes in three balls to get New Zealand off to a strong start. However, Allen was bowled out by Shoriful Islam in the fifth over when Yasir Ali caught the skier by moving to his right at midwicket.

Conway turned a promising start into a significant score

In his 40-ball 64, the left-hander dominated his 82-run partnership with Martin Guptill for the second wicket. He hit five fours and three sixes. In addition, Guptill played well toward the end of his 27-ball 34.

Phillips used the top three batsmen in New Zealand as a perfect platform to take aim at Bangladesh. In the 16th over, he hit Shakib with two slog-swept sixes. In the next over, Mohammad Saifuddin took out Conway and Mark Chapman in four balls, but Phillips continued and hit Shoriful Islam and Saifuddin for sixes in succession to reach a half-century in 19 balls. Phillips had the third highest strike rate of any New Zealand batter who had scored more than 60 runs in a T20I innings, with a rate of 250.

Bangladesh had their best powerplay of the tri-series

Despite using a third opening pair in as many games. Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar attacked the bowlers after Milne removed Najmul Hossain Shanto in the fourth over. However, they were unable to capitalise on their initial opportunities, as Litton fouled out in the sixth over and Soumya ramped one to third man in the tenth over. Despite not being able to maintain the required run rate, Bangladesh appeared more at ease as a batting unit for the first time on this tour.

From the very first ball Shakib faced, he charged down the wicket and lofted Bracewell over mid-on for a four, demonstrating his proficiency. When he batted on 11, he got an extra life, and he made sure to use it, soaring to a half-century in 33 balls. There was little Shakib could do with the asking rate rising and wickets falling frequently at the other end. He also hit big shots at the quicks, but Bangladesh needed 56 runs from 11 balls to win.

ALSO READ: Ganguly displeased at BCCI election

Milne bowled well on his return from a niggle, while Bracewell bowled well after his sparse returns in the last two matches. Bracewell continued to impress. Bracewell took two wickets and made a difficult catch on the boundary after winning Player-of-the-Match awards in consecutive matches. He bowled Afif Hossain in the 12th over of the Bangladesh innings and only gave up three runs. Later, he fumbled Yasir Ali with a superb catch at the boundary line.
