Archer’s Game-Changing Performance

Archer carved his name in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the first bowler ever to bowl a maiden over in IPL history. He made his IPL 2025 season debut with Rajasthan Royals, taking the crucial scalp of Rachin Ravindra and blanking him for runs. Ravindra, who was still reeling from his aggressive batting display, was gifted a superb yorker from Archers where he cleaned him up. This turned out to be the most important moment of the match. For Archer to be able to control his nerves at that point was a testimony to his reputation as one of the elite T20 bowlers. He is truly a champion who comes out clutch with the big guns blazing when the pressure is at its peak.

statistics and milestones has Jofra Archer achieved in IPL

His IPL record speaks for itself and this is even more highlighted by the fact that he started with the Rajasthan Royals franchise by making his debut back in 2018. He took 15 wickets in just 10 matches which was astonishing. He then followed it up in the 2020 season with 14 matches where his performance was hugely impactful as he took 20 wickets while boasting an unbelievably high economy of just 6.3. Achilles injuries has sidelined Archer from playing matches but it has not dented his record as one of the most reliable fast bowlers in the world of T20 cricket.

1 Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson has a great record against Chennai Super Kings his accelerating batting gives smoothness to the score. Sanju has the highest score of 74 runs against the Super Kings, he can be more dangerous as he does not have that extra responsibility which he did earlier so he can go by free hand to launch the assault. Samson can be dangerous if he sticks in the crease for a long time as he has done many times. It's on Csk bowlers how quickly they give a send to this player.

2. Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra the New Zealand batter was an essential part of the team last year, he has scored an ample of runs which secured his retention this season for the men in yellow. He was the replacement of Devon Conway.  Last year Rachin scored 222 runs for Csk with one fifty including it. That confidence cracked CSK to buy him and they got him for the price of 1.8 crore.
Rachin had a super start in this year's IPL season too against Mumbai Indians where his 65 runs paved the way to victory where the other side's wickets were crumbling In the second match too he was effective but got in Yash Dayal's yorker.

3. Jofra Archer

Archer is a lethal bowler in T20 his records speak for him same as in IPL he has delivered his magic, Archer was bought by Rajasthan Royals in 2018 from there he has been go through bowler for them. Jofra has taken a total of 46 wickets for Rajasthan Royals but sometimes he could be the most expensive like the last match where he gave out 74 runs in his 4 overs which is the most expensive skill in the history of IPL. There has always been rooting for him and can be deadly in the upcoming match against CSK.

IPL 2025, Match 8: CSK vs RCB Dream11 Top Captains And Vice-captains

Top 3 Captain's choices

Rachin Ravindra: New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra is in great form with the bat. While CSK had a tricky chase of 156 runs against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 opener, Ravindra scored 65 not out off 45 balls with two fours and four sixes, as CSK managed to chase the target despite losing wickets at regular intervals. His spin bowling is also an asset for his team.

Krunal Pandya: While RCB managed a solid start in the IPL 2025 with a seven-wicket thrashing win against the hosts and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Krunal Pandya was the main character why RCB return to the game and never lost the plot since then. The left-arm spinner maintained tight lines in the IPL 2025 opener as he dismissed set captain Ajinkya Rahane (56), Venkatesh Iyer (6), and Rinku Singh (12). He had the bowling figures of 4-0-29-3 as he won the Player of the Match award. In Chennai, he can play another crucial role for his team with the ball.

Virat Kohli: Former RCB captain Virat Kohli is now in great form with the bat in white-ball cricket. The leading run-scorer in IPL history started the IPL 2025 in familiar style as his powerful 59 not out off 36 balls (four fours and three sixes) had an important role in the successful 175-run chase.

Top 3 Vice-captain's choices

Noor Ahmad: The Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad was the hero for CSK in their first game of the IPL 2025, where they beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets with five balls to spare. While they restricted MI to 155/9 in 20 overs, Noor had the bowling figures of 4-0-18-4, as he dismissed Suryakumar Yadav (29), Robin Minz (3), Tilak Varma (31), and Naman Dhit (17).

Khaleel Ahmed: While Noor Ahmed was the Player of the Match for CSK in their IPL 2025 opener, the left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed set the tone for that with his two wickets in the powerplay. In his first two overs, Khaleel dismissed Rohit Sharma (0) and Ryan Rickelton (0). Later, in the slog overs, he dismissed Trent Boult (1) and finished with the bowling figures of 4-0-29-3.

Ravindra Jadeja: Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is always a key name in any format of cricket as he is a rare asset for any team. In Chennai, his left-arm spin bowling is key, while the left-handed batter can also play crucial cameos. In their first IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians, while Jadeja controlled with the bowling figures of 3-0-21-0, he came at a crucial time in the batting and set up the match-saver 36-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Rachin Ravindra before the Indian cricketer was run out for 17 runs.

Both teams are very competitive, which is why the IPL Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match on March 28 in MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, is set to be a blast of an encounter. Here are three key players to watch a preview of this exciting clash.

1. Virat Kohli (RCB)

Kohli’s batting brilliance remains a constant danger. he’s a batting threat spanning from middle to end overs. A showcased example of this masterclass was on the 22nd of March, against KKR, in which RCB opened IPL 2025 with him singlehandedly smashing 59 runs off 36 balls, with RCB beating KKR by 7 wickets, a harsh boasting blow to his pole strikers. His injury concerns him; he fried an easily inviting 174 runs, and attacking him is counterproductive.

2. Rachin Ravindra (CSK)

This dynamic all-rounder has emerged as a cornerstone for CSK with his aggressive batting and crafty spin. Ravindra has become a zippy performer for the CSK team. No big change from the last game after Ravindra had scored 65 runs off  45 balls and took 1/25, despite the 4-wicket win chasing MI’s 155/9 (CSK 158/6). His form is likely to give a tough time to RCB on a surface that suits spinners.

3. Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)

Gaikwad’s calm head as an elegant opener will be vital against RCB’s quick bowlers. In the match against MI, he scored 53 runs off 26 runs and had stabilized the innings but could not see them over the line. His clash with RCB bowlers such as Josh Hazlewood could determine how CSK fares.

Although RCB thugs lead the encounters 21-11 in 33 matches, his 27-run win in the last IPL 2024 meeting makes it interesting. With RCB thumping KKR and CSK nudging past MI, this match combines CSK’s Chepauk magic and RCB’s energy, which will be a thriller.

Will Young and Rachin Ravindra had 57-run opening partnership

New Zealand opener Rachin Ravindra provided a flying start. Blackcaps openers Will Young and Rachin Ravindra had a 57-run partnership for the first wicket, which they accumulated in eight overs. Since the Indian spinners started to bowl in the match, Kiwi batters have struggled to continue their strong batting performance.

During the 57-run opening partnership, Rachin was dropped twice. The pacer Mohammed Shami dropped him for 28 runs on his delivery as he missed the caught and bowled opportunity. In the next over, Varun Chakravarthy created a chance as Rachin was on 29 runs when Shreyas Iyer just failed to grab a catch at deep. India were frustrated with those missed chances, while Rachin was scoring quickly.

Ultimately, Chakravarthy produced the first wicket for India as Will Young was lbw in the eighth over after scoring 15 off 23 balls with two fours.

Kuldeep Yadav started second powerplay by dismissing Rachin Ravindra

After New Zealand completed the first powerplay at 69/1, and they lost dangerous Rachin on the first ball of the second powerplay. It was the first ball for Kuldeep Yadav in the Final and he started with a great wicket as he bowled Rachin. New Zealand claimed a big win against South Africa in the second Semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to reach their third Champions Trophy Final.

Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore hosted the second Semi-final match on Wednesday (March 5), where New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner chose to bat first after winning the toss. While New Zealand scored 362/6 in 50 overs, the record total in the tournament history, South Africa replied with 312/9 in 50 overs.

Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson scored 100s; Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips produced valuable 49s

While the Kiwi opener Will Young scored 21 runs, and he had a 48-run opening partnership with Rachin Ravindra, Ravindra and Kane Williamson set the big total tone with a 164-run partnership for the second wicket. While Ravindra recorded his fifth ODI century in 93 balls, Williamson recorded his 15th ODI century in 91 balls. Ravindra fell after scoring 108 off 101 balls with 13 fours and one six, while Williamson scored 102 off 94 balls with 10 fours and two sixes.

In the late moment, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips fired the Proteas bowlers to add significant quick runs. Mitchell and Phillips had a 57-run partnership for the fifth wicket in just five overs. While Mitchell scored 49 off 37 balls (four fours and one six), Phillips ended the innings with 49 not out in 27 balls (six fours and one six).

Among the South African bowlers, Lungi Ngidi (3/72) took three wickets and Kagiso Rabada (2/70) picked up two wickets. However, in the last powerplay, the Proteas bowlers conceded 110 runs.

David Miller's tournament's fastest century record was too late for South Africa

In reply, after the opener Ryan Rickelton (17) lost his wicket early, his opening partner and the captain Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen set a solid partnership of 105-run for the second wicket. However, their partnership took enough balls as the next dangerous batters couldn't handle the required run rate pressures. Also, Blackcaps spinners simply bowled well to take regular wickets which put the Proteas away from the game.

While Bavuma was dismissed for 56 off 71 balls (four fours and one six), Van de Dussen scored 69 off 66 balls (four fours and two sixes). The next two key batters, Aiden Markram (31) and Heinrich Klaasen (3) failed in the chasing, while David Miller's single-handed battle till the end wasn't enough for the Proteas.

At the end of the 40 overs, South Africa were struggling at 223/8. While there was no hope for the inaugural ICC Champions Trophy champions, Miller still tried his best to take the game as close as possible. After scoring his first 50 runs in 46 balls, the 35-year-old left-handed middle-order batter completed his century in 67 balls, which set a new record for the fastest century in the tournament history. Miller remained not out for 100 off 67 balls (10 fours and four sixes).

New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra won the Player of the Match award for taking one wicket (1/20) and two more catches along with the most valuable century. Captain Mitchell Santner (3/43), Matt Henry (2/43), Glenn Phillips (2/27) and Michael Bracewell (1/53) managed to take important wickets in the match.

New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson broke several records in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final match against South Africa in Lahore. Their titanic 164-run partnership is now the Black Caps' all-time highest-ever stand in the history of the tournament.

Both the batsmen also scored centuries, playing key roles in helping New Zealand to a huge total of 362 runs.

Ravindra's Century and Record-Breaking Stand

Ravindra was the key to this record-breaking alliance, hitting an unbelievable 108 off 101 deliveries. His innings were laced with classy shots and elegant shot-making before he was dismissed in the 34th over. Kagiso Rabada got rid of him with a wide off-cutter, which brought about an edge, that Heinrich Klaasen glove-slid behind the stumps safely.

Williamson Completes His Ton After Ravindra’s Departure

Williamson came in to join Ravindra quite early in the innings after Will Young was dismissed within the initial 10 overs. The pair took the Kiwis beyond the 210-run mark, keeping the South African bowlers on their toes.
Whereas Ravindra batted with ferocity, Williamson kept the scoreboard ticking through well-timed singles and strategic boundary hits. After Ravindra got out, Williamson batted on smoothly with Daryl Mitchell.

He completed his century in the 40th over, reaching it in 91 balls. His innings, though, came to an end at 102 off 94 balls when he tried a scoop shot off Wiaan Mulder but could not get a clean connection. His elegant knock contained 10 fours and 2 sixes.

A Record-Breaking Partnership

The 164-run stand between Williamson and Ravindra is now the highest by a New Zealand pair in Champions Trophy history. According to Cricbuzz, the earlier record was a 163-run partnership between Scott Styris and Nathan Astle against the USA at The Oval in 2004.

Moreover, Ravindra and Williamson are also the new record holders of the highest partnership against South Africa in the tournament. The old record was also 163, which was held by England's Paul Collingwood and Owais Shah in 2009.

Massive Feats for the Duo

Ravindra was the first New Zealand cricketer to make more than one century in a single Champions Trophy season. Williamson later joined him in the exclusive club of NZ batsmen with more than one Champions Trophy hundred overall.

Ravindra has now achieved the second-lowest number of innings to reach five ODI centuries for New Zealand, as per Cricbuzz. Only Devon Conway has done it quicker, reaching the mark in 22 innings.

At the same time, Williamson is currently second on the list of New Zealand batsmen with the most ODI centuries against one team. He trails Nathan Astle (five against India) and Ross Taylor (five against England).

Thanks to their record-breaking innings, Ravindra and Williamson have secured their position in New Zealand cricket history, leading their side to a strong total in a high-pressure semi-final.
