The IPL 2025 Match 24 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is to be played on April 10, 2025, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. In match Delhi Capitals outclassed Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a dominant 6-wicket win.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Innings:

RCB scored 163/7 after being asked to bat. Opener Phil Salt provided a good beginning with a rapid 37 off 17 balls, but the momentum slowed as the game went on. Rajat Patidar contributed a defensive 25 off 23, but the middle order failed to capitalize, losing wickets at regular intervals. Tim David powered the innings in the last overs with an unbeaten 37 off 20, taking the score over 160.

Delhi Capitals' bowlers were tight and economical. Kuldeep Yadav spun through the middle overs, ending with commendable figures of 2/17. Debutant Vipraj Nigam made an impression, taking 2 for 18 in four overs and keeping his cool under pressure; he chipped away at wickets at the appropriate times. Mohit Sharma was equally effective, taking one crucial wicket and only giving up 10 runs in two overs.

Delhi Capitals Innings

DC Pursuing 164, the match went to KL Rahul with 93 off 53 with a straight bat ruling the innings. KL settled in to play a confident, calm innings as he continuously found boundaries while rotating the strike. Tristan Stubbs played well, supporting KL by scoring 38 off 23 as they looked to build a partnership. Axar Patel's coolness as he finished the innings off with 15 off 11 as DC chased the runs in 17.5 overs.

RCB's bowlers were under pressure, and only Bhuvneshwar Kumar was able to make an impact with 2/26. Suyash Sharma and Yash Dayal took a wicket each, but Rahul's control left them with no solution.

This victory gave Delhi Capitals momentum and improved their net run rate, while RCB's quest for consistency goes on in the tournament.

Post-Match Reactions - RCB vs DC

 • Tristan Stubbs (DC): "Feeling amazing to finish off the game for KL. Popped in during a tricky part, but run rate remained within control. Made it simple by KL. DLS was just discussed briefly with us, but I wasn't too concerned about it. Played for myself initially, then tried to push ahead. Enjoy late-order batting — it allows better reading of the game."
 • Axar Patel (DC Captain): "Confidence is the word — four consecutive wins is fantastic. We set match-ups well in advance; RCB prefer pace early on, so we employed more spin during the powerplay. There was bounce and grip on the pitch. The 19th over strategy did not work but we still managed to win (laughs). Vipraj has been outstanding and makes me confident. Captaincy is made simpler by KL."
 • KL Rahul (Player of the Match): "Wicket was a little tricky but consistent. Standing behind the stumps helped me understand it. Wanted to start well and then control the innings. Knew my scoring areas and adapted according to ground sizes. Practice helps me identify boundary opportunities — worked today. Always love playing on my home ground."
 • Rajat Patidar (RCB Captain): “We misread the pitch; expected it to be better for batting. Losing quick wickets from 80/1 to 90/4 hurt us. We’ve got a strong batting line-up but need better assessment. Tim David’s finishing has been a huge plus. Powerplay bowling was good. We’re focusing on improving as a team.”

<![CDATA[Watch: Phil Salt's run out destroys RCB's dominant start against DC]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/phil-salt-run-out-destroys-rcb-dominant-start-against-dc/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/phil-salt-run-out-destroys-rcb-dominant-start-against-dc/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 16:02:58 GMT

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had a fiery start against Delhi Capitals in the 24th match of the IPL 2025, where the opener Phil Salt was bashing the opponent bowlers. But a terrible mix-up forced the dangerous Salt to lose his valuable wicket through a run-out.

After Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel chose to field first in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a stormy start by recording the fastest 50 runs for a team in the IPL 2025 after scoring 53/0 in three overs. During the third over of the innings, RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli added 30 runs as Mitchell Starc had one of his worst T20 experiences by conceding three consecutive fours (including one in a no-ball), two sixes (including one in a Free Hit), and ending with a four leg-bye runs.

Salt set the early stage for RCB to practically dream of a big total of 200 runs in the match. However, the fourth over brought a horrible experience for the hosts, which massively hurt them in the first innings.

Terrible mix-up before Phil Salt's unfortunate run out

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel was bowling in that fourth over of the innings, while Salt and Kohli had a terrible mix-up on the fifth ball of that over, and it immediately cost Salt's wicket, as he was comfortably run out. The running partners were clueless in the middle of the pitch, and the English cricketer turned back to make his desperate attempt to save his wicket, but it was too late for him. Salt was run out for 37 off 17 balls, where he hit four fours and three sixes.

RCB scored 163/7

While RCB lost their first wicket for 61 runs, they were struggling at 125/7. Finally, Tim David made a brilliant attempt in the final overs, as his 37 not out in 20 balls (two fours and four sixes) guided RCB to a challenging first innings total of 163/7 in 20 overs.

On April 10, 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) played Delhi Capitals (DC) in an intense IPL match. There was a turning point when Virat Kohli was caught by leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam, and there was a mixed bag of fan reactions on social media. A typical remark captured the mood: "Saare spinners ko wicket dega tera Kohli" (Your Kohli will get his wicket off all spinners). Even though Kohli is a game legend, the last few years have exposed an increasing battle with leg-spin, particularly in the IPL.

Nigam was mostly unheard of, but he had a clean dismissal of Kohli, which adds legitimacy to the fact that leg spinners have become Achilles' heels for him. Fans took to social media with sarcasm and concern, as they pointed out that this wasn't the first time Kohli had fallen to spin bowling. A single wicket does not define a career, but it does signal deeper analysis.

Kohli IPL Record vs. Spinners

After April 2025, Kohli has played 256 IPL matches and has scored a total of 8,168 runs at 38.90 and a strike rate of 131.9. He has been dismissed a total of 197 times, and spinners have determined a large portion of those dismissals. More specifically, he has been dismissed by

 • Left-arm spinners: 57 dismissals
 • Right-arm spinners: 140 dismissals

Also Read: IPL 2025: CSK vs. KKR - A Head to Head breakdown

Kohli vs. Leg Spinners: Statistical Analysis: Leg spinners, because of their ability to turn the ball away from right-handers, have also given Kohli much grief. Some of the best leg-spinners who have gotten him out on more than one occasion are

 • Yuzvendra Chahal: 3 times
 • Rashid Khan: 2 times
 • Amit Mishra: 2–3 times
 • Piyush Chawla: 2 times

With Nigam’s 2025 dismissal, the trend continues. Up to 2024, Kohli was likely dismissed by leg-spinners 20–25 times. Nigam's wicket pushes that tally higher.

Kohli’s Weakness Against Spin: Fact or Fiction?

Once dominant against spin, Kohli’s post-2022 numbers reveal a more cautious game. Data shows he attempts aggressive (150+ strike rate) shots against spin just 14% of the time, well below the league average of 25%. This defensive approach has increased his vulnerability, especially against wrist spin.

At 37 years old, there are concerns about age or a change of strategy in his game. His strike rates against Kuldeep (115.09) and Chahal (120) are lower than his career average, indicating a pattern that rivals are keen to target.

In a remarkable moment during Match 24 of IPL 2025 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Bengaluru, RCB opener Phil Salt unleashed an aggressive assault on Mitchell Starc that left fans stunned. In the third over of the innings, Starc, one of DC’s premier left-arm pacers, endured a forgettable spell, conceding 30 runs—one of the most expensive overs in IPL history.

The over began with Salt striking a massive six, followed by three consecutive boundaries. On the fourth delivery, Starc overstepped, resulting in a no-ball, and Salt punished the Free Hit with another towering six. By this point, the crowd was roaring as Salt displayed his explosive hitting ability. The last two deliveries didn’t add to Starc’s tally of runs conceded, but they still hurt the team. One leg-bye allowed Salt to rotate strike, and Virat Kohli followed up with a four through leg-byes, completing a 30-run over.

Despite some of the runs not being credited directly to Starc, the damage had been done. Fans were quick to react on social media, with many calling it one of the most entertaining and unexpected overs of the tournament so far. It was a rare sight to see a bowler of Starc’s caliber put under such pressure.

Phil Salt was, unfortunately run out for 37 runs

RCB scored 53/0 in three overs as they recorded the fastest 50 runs in the IPL 2025. DC were in big relief in the next over, after Salt had a horrible run out after a terrible mix-up with his opening partner Kohli. Before his run out, the English opener scored 37 off 17 balls with four fours and three sixes.

Salt's dismissal hurt more RCB fans as it triggered a tough time for the hosts to experience a batting collapse. From 61/0, RCB suddenly went down to 117/6 before the 15th over.
