Shane Watson, the former Australian all-rounder, has suggested that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ought to be very careful ahead of their clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk during IPL 2025. Watson, who has represented CSK and RCB, noted that the finest feature of Chennai is the abundance of spinners. "CSK’s entire setup is built around playing well in Chennai. Just watch the three spinners who steamrolled MI in their opening game – Ashwin, Jadeja, and Noor Ahmad. On that pitch, they are going to be a real handful." He also commended Noor Ahmad for his impressive performance during his CSK debut, remarking that this will certainly raise the morale of the team by providing another reliable wicket-taker.

In the meantime, Watson noticed the difficulties in the spinning department of the Rajasthan Royals and pointed out the absence of quality options against KKR. He believes that spin will play a crucial role in this season’s IPL, especially at venues like Chepauk, where teams like CSK thrive.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) camp buzzed with excitement as all-rounder Krunal Pandya celebrated his 34th birthday in style. 

The celebrations were observed at RCB’s Bold Diaries which was provided by bigbasket, clearly bringing life to the atmosphere gathering at the team’s base in Bengaluru. As is customary, the celebrations began pandya was welcomed with cakes which left everyone elated. Pandya was met with warm greetings from everyone after the cake-cutting ceremony, where he was showered with praise for remaining “cool-headed” while greeting the staff.

The celebration did not end there, as it showcased the bond RCB share with each other, which is a rare sight to behold. The coaching staff that was present, commanded by Andy Flower, got off their chair and did their part too: “Spin it, smash it, win it!” was their message. RCB social accounts took a call and started referring to him as the “sorcerer supreme” and his all-round magic. In an exciting opening to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pulled off a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB chased down KKR's modest score of 125/3 in a mere 12 overs.

The RCB bowlers set the tone from the start by sending KKR in early and completing disciplined spells restricting KKR to 125/3 in 12 overs. The batting took over the task from that point taking over and winning the game with 8 overs to spare. This victory marks a promising start for RCB, a team that has consistently reached the playoffs in recent years but is yet to lift the IPL trophy.

A dramatic moment took place during the IPL 2025 opener between KKR and RCB at Eden Gardens when Sunil Narine had a lucky escape from what looked like a hit-wicket dismissal. Though he was eventually out for 44 off 26 balls, the incident left RCB players frustrated and questioning the decision.

It happened in the 7th over, bowled by Rasikh Salam. Narine tried to duck under a sharp short ball, but in the process, his bat accidentally hit the stumps, and the bails lit up. However, the umpires ruled him not out and signaled a wide, as the ball was already in wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma’s gloves, and Narine had completed his shot.

Why Was Sunil Narine Not Given Out Hit Wicket?

In cricket, a batter is given out hit wicket if they break the stumps while playing a shot, taking off for a run, or trying to protect their wicket with a second hit. But if the stumps are broken after the shot is finished and the ball is no longer in play, the batter is not out. In Sunil Narine’s case, his bat hit the stumps only after the ball was safely in the wicketkeeper’s gloves. Since the delivery was already over, the umpires said that not out as per Law 35.2.

Narine was NOT OUT anyway.

As per Law 35.1.1 of MCC, "The striker is out Hit wicket if, after the bowler has entered the delivery stride and while the ball is in play."

As for the match, RCB’s new captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first. They got off to a great start with Josh Hazlewood dismissing Quinton de Kock for just 4 runs in the first over. But KKR, the defending champions, bounced back well. Captain Ajinkya Rahane smashed a quick 50 off just 25 balls, while Narine played an entertaining knock of 44 off 26.

Virat is once again ready for the battle between them but Bumrah being injured and recovering from back strain injury which he faced in BGT series. It is reported that Bumrah may be available in the later part of the IPL so the battle between them can be seen and the battle between them may comtinue.
