Top 5 Fastest Centuries in T20 International Cricket
T20 cricket is the most exciting format of the game. In this game, explosive batting has a key role. With the passage of time, numerous cricketers have amazed audiences by scoring rapid centuries, and the records fell into pieces.
Now, here's a glance at the five fastest centuries that T20 International has ever seen:

1. Sahil Chauhan – 27 Balls (2024)

Sahil Chauhan holds the record for scoring the fastest century in T20I history in just 27 balls. This incredible feat came against Cyprus on June 17, 2024.
This innings was so full of power sixes and fours that Sahil Chauhan became the fastest-ever centurion in T20 internationals.

2. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton – 33 Balls (2024)

Namibian cricketer Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton broke the record with the fastest ever century in the T20I format, after Sahil Chauhan left it behind breaking it.
And he made that hundred in the match of the year 2024 in merely 33 deliveries. His fearless batting display marked how T20 cricket is flourishing and how athletes are always experimenting with boundaries.

3. Sikandar Raza – 33 Balls (2023)

Zimbabwe’s star all-rounder Sikandar Raza also holds the record for scoring a 33-ball century in T20Is.
His knock was filled with exceptional hitting, helping Zimbabwe post a massive total. His ability to attack from the very first ball makes him one of the most dangerous batsmen in the shortest format.

4. Kushal Malla – 34 Balls (2023)

Nepali cricketer Kushal Malla caught headlines as he scored a T20I century within just 34 deliveries in 2023. His match-winning innings portrayed that Nepal is gaining force against international cricket. As he managed to find gaps and hit big shots, it happened to be one of the fastest centuries in cricket history.

5. David Miller & Rohit Sharma – 35 Balls (Tie Record)

South Africa's David Miller and India's Rohit Sharma share the record for scoring the fastest century in T20I cricket - 35 balls. Miller blazed his explosive century against Bangladesh in 2017, just like Rohit Sharma did on the same calendar year against Sri Lanka. This was filled with breathtaking strokes for both innings.

Abhishek Sharma – 37 Balls (2025)

One of the latest record-breaking performances is Abhishek Sharma of India who, on February 2, 2025, at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, hit a 37-ball century against England. Abhishek struck 13 sixes and enabled India to put a monstrous total on the board. His onslaught helped India win the match by a margin of 150 runs, thereby confirming him as a future T20 superstar. He also became the second-quickest Indian to score a T20I hundred after Rohit Sharma's 35-ball century.

Arshdeep Singh Shortlisted for ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year

Arshdeep Singh, a young fast bowler from India, got a nomination for the Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year. It was on December 29 that the International Cricket Council put out the list of nominees. During the T20 World Cup 2024, Arshdeep really showed what he could do. Singh ended up as one of the top bowlers by taking the same number of wickets as the highest wicket-taker. In eight matches, he managed to get 17 victims, boasting a very low average of 12.64 and keeping his runs per over down to 7.16.

Arshdeep not only did an excellent job in the World Cup but also became the top spot for most wickets taken in Test matches among countries that play tests. He got 36 wickets across 18 games, with an impressive average of just 13.50 and giving 7.49 runs per over. What's surprising is that Jasprit Bumrah, even after getting the Player of the Tournament title at the T20 World Cup, didn't even get a nominee spot for the celebrated ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year award now.

Bumrah performed admirably during the World Cup, finishing as the tournament's second-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets in eight games, boasting an incredible average of 8.26 and an economy rate of just 4.17. Another nominee is Pakistani star Babar Azam, who was the leading T20I run-scorer for both Test-playing teams and globally, accumulating 738 runs in 23 innings with an average of 33.54 and a strike rate of 133.21, including six half-centuries.

Travis Head from Australia is competing for the award too. This year, he was amazing in T20Is and obtained the most runs for Australia, hitting 539 in 15 games. Head managed to achieve an average of 38.50 and had an inordinately speedy strike rate of 178.47, which included scoring four half-centuries -- proving he can effectively challenge the bowlers.

Sikandar Raza from Zimbabwe completes the list of nominees, with a stellar 2024. Earlier this year, he got everyone to notice him by making the second-fastest century ever in T20 International games.Raza performed well overall, hitting a total of 573 runs over 23 innings, which gives him an average of 28.65. His hitting was very strong too, with a strike rate of 146.54.  Raza even managed to score one century and two fifties. When it comes to bowling, he wasn't unsuccessful either, taking 24 wickets in 23 matches and averaging 22.25 for each wicket he took. Raza shone in one game where he took 5 wickets and only gave up 18 runs.

Now, fans can vote for their favorite players on the ICC website to help decide this prestigious accolade!

Ravi Bishnoi, the star Indian spinner, showed off his fielding skills in India’s third T20I against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club. He took a fantastic catch to dismiss Brian Bennett.

This happened in the fourth over of Zimbabwe’s innings when they were trying to recover after losing Wessly Madhevere and Tadiwanashe Marumani early. Shubman Gill’s decision to give Avesh Khan another over was brilliant, as Avesh managed to get Bennet’s crucial wicket.

Ravi Bishnoi’s blinder to dismiss Brian Bennet

Avesh bowled a short of good length delivery, which Bennet cut hard through the off side. But he couldn’t get pass Ravi Bishnoi, who timed his jump perfectly and took an amazing catch.

Bishnoi’s catch ended Bennet’s innings, leaving him with just four runs from five balls. After Bennet’s dismissal, captain Sikandar Raza joined Dion Myers to stabilize Zimbabwe’s innings.

Earlier, with Shubman Gill’s half-century and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s useful knock, India set a challenging total of 182 runs. Zimbabwe was 36 for three in 5.3 overs.

The young Indian team faced a tough challenge in Harare as Zimbabwe beat them by 13 runs, giving the World Champions their first T20I defeat of the year.

Zimbabwe’s bowlers delivered an impressive performance, defending a modest total of 115 and bundling India out for just 102 in 19.5 overs. Sikandar Raza and Tendai Chatara took 3 wickets each, while Clive Madande’s late surge helped secure the victory. India’s poor death bowling and reckless batting cost them the game.

India won the toss and chose to field first. Mukesh Kumar struck early, dismissing Innocent Kaia for a duck. Wesley Madhevere and Brian Bennett then steadied Zimbabwe’s innings until Ravi Bishnoi turned the tide, taking two crucial wickets. Despite Avesh Khan removing Raza and causing a collapse, Madande’s 29 off 25 balls pushed Zimbabwe to 115. Bishnoi was the standout bowler for India, claiming 4 wickets for 13 runs.

Zimbabwe’s new era under Sikandar Raza

India’s chase started poorly, with Abhishek Sharma out for a duck. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Riyan Parag also failed to score significantly. Rinku Singh was out for a duck, and despite Shubman Gill’s efforts, the team struggled.

Gill was eventually dismissed by Raza, leaving India at 47 for 6. Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar provided some resistance, but Raza’s catch and Chatara’s wickets sealed Zimbabwe’s win.

Zimbabwe’s bowling brilliance and India’s batting collapse

Patience is needed with the young Indian players like Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel, who are transitioning from IPL to international cricket. Their aggressive playstyle needs adjustment for the international stage.

Zimbabwe rebuilding under Sikandar Raza’s captaincy, showed belief and confidence. Despite missing key players like Sean Williams, Ryan Burl, and Craig Ervine, they capitalized on Madande’s late runs and Raza’s strategic bowling changes. Both teams will face off again on July 7.

The IPL 2024 season is heating up, with Punjab Kings gearing up to face Chennai Super Kings in their subsequent thrilling encounter at the Chepauk Stadium on May 1st. However, amidst the excitement surrounding the upcoming match, Punjab Kings bid farewell to one of their stalwart players, Sikandar Raza, who is set to join the Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.

Sikandar Raza’s Departure

Sikandar Raza’s departure comes as a significant blow to Punjab Kings, as the seasoned all-rounder has been a valuable asset to the team. His absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the Punjab Kings’ lineup, both in terms of his batting prowess and his utility as a bowler. Raza’s decision to prioritize national duty highlights his commitment to representing his country on the international stage.

Sikandar Raza’s IPL Performance

Despite being a key player in the Punjab Kings’ squad, Sikandar Raza struggled to make a significant impact in the IPL 2024 season. With limited opportunities to showcase his talent, Raza managed to score only 43 runs in two games, falling short of expectations. A comparison with his performances in previous IPL seasons underscores the dip in Raza’s form and productivity during the current campaign.

Punjab Kings’ Recent Triumph

In a sensational display of batting prowess, Punjab Kings ended their four-match losing streak in style by chasing down a record total of 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Led by the explosive batting of Jonny Bairstow, Punjab Kings orchestrated a remarkable run chase, securing a much-needed victory to boost their morale.

Current Standing of Punjab Kings

Despite their spectacular win, the Punjab Kings are languishing in eighth place in the IPL 2024 points table. With six points from nine matches and a net run rate of -0.187, they face an uphill battle to secure a spot in the playoffs. The tight competition in the league intensifies the pressure on them to deliver consistent performances in their remaining fixtures.

Future Prospects for Punjab Kings

As Punjab Kings strive to keep their playoff hopes alive, they face the daunting task of winning all five of their remaining matches. However, even with a potential accumulation of 16 points, their playoff qualification remains uncertain, with the net run rate looming as a decisive factor.

Several key players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 are facing the prospect of early exits from the tournament due to their international commitments. These players, integral to their IPL franchises, are likely to depart earlier than expected, leaving a void in their teams’ line-ups. Let’s know about the details of these potential departures and their impact on the ongoing IPL season.

Reece Topley (RCB)

Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Reece Topley is an essential component of England’s T20 World Cup plans. Scheduled to leave in the third week of May, Topley’s absence could pose a challenge for RCB’s bowling lineup as they strive for success in the IPL.

Sikandar Raza (PBKS)

Playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS), Sikandar Raza is expected to bid adieu to the IPL by the end of April. With Zimbabwe set to tour Bangladesh for five T20Is, Raza’s departure could disrupt PBKS’ balance in the middle order.

Mustafizur Rahman (CSK)

For Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mustafizur Rahman’s services might not be available in May due to Bangladesh’s T20I series against Zimbabwe and the USA. Rahman’s absence could affect CSK’s bowling options in the crucial stages of the tournament.

Jos Buttler (RR)

Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Jos Buttler could receive a call back in the third week of May as England prepares to face Pakistan in four T20Is starting from May 22. Buttler’s potential departure could leave a significant void in RR’s batting lineup.

Will Jacks (RCB)

Another player from RCB, Will Jacks, is a vital cog in England’s T20 World Cup plans. Like Topley, he might leave the IPL early to participate in T20Is against Pakistan, potentially impacting RCB’s middle-order stability.

Liam Livingstone (PBKS)

PBKS’s Liam Livingstone is another English player who could exit the IPL prematurely to feature in the Pakistan series. His departure might disrupt PBKS’s plans, especially considering his all-round capabilities.

Moeen Ali (CSK)

CSK’s Moeen Ali could face unavailability issues with England facing Pakistan from May 22 onwards. Ali’s departure might leave a void in CSK’s middle order and spin department.

Phil Salt (KKR)

Representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), opener Phil Salt might also face an early exit from the IPL due to England’s series against Pakistan. KKR could struggle to find a suitable replacement for Salt at the top of the order.

Joshua Little (Gujarat Titans)

Although he hasn’t featured in any games this season, Joshua Little of Gujarat Titans might have to leave in May as Ireland plays Pakistan in three T20Is from May 10 to 14. His absence might not directly impact Gujarat Titans but could affect their squad depth.

Sam Curran (PBKS)

PBKS’s Sam Curran, a key member of the team, might be unavailable towards the end of the league stage due to his international commitments. His absence could pose challenges for PBKS in both batting and bowling departments.

Jonny Bairstow (PBKS)

Another PBKS player, Jonny Bairstow, might have to depart early to be available for England’s T20Is against Pakistan. His early exit could disrupt PBKS’s batting plans and team balance.

These potential departures due to international commitments highlight the delicate balance between IPL participation and national team duties. Cricket enthusiasts will keenly observe how these developments unfold and the subsequent impact on their respective IPL franchises.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been on a quest for IPL success since the league’s inception. Despite early promise, they have faltered in recent years, failing to qualify for the playoffs consistently.

While PBKS showed promise in the inaugural IPL season and reached the finals in 2014, they have struggled to replicate that success. Inconsistency and a lack of cohesion have hindered their progress in subsequent seasons.

Significance of the IPL 2024 Auction

The IPL 2024 auction presented an opportunity for PBKS to revamp their squad and address weaknesses. With eight signings, including notable players like Harshal Patel and Rilee Rossouw, the team aimed to bolster its resources.

Focus on Bowling Strength

PBKS’ focus on strengthening their bowling department in the auction reflects a strategic shift. With Harshal Patel’s arrival complementing Kagiso Rabada, the team aims to create a formidable bowling attack capable of challenging opponents.

In IPL 2023, PBKS displayed glimpses of potential but ultimately fell short of playoff qualification. Despite securing victories in key matches, losses in crucial encounters against the Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals proved costly.

The acquisition of Harshal Patel for a significant sum highlighted PBKS’ commitment to bolstering their bowling arsenal. The team recognized the importance of strengthening their pace attack to compete effectively.

Strategic Moves in the IPL 2024 Auction

Indian medium pacer Harshal Patel (Rs. 11.75 crore) was the biggest purchase by the team, followed by South African batter Rilee Rossouw who was snapped up for Rs. 8 crore after a bidding war with the Delhi Capitals during the accelerated auction. England all-rounder Chris Woakes was also bought for a sum of Rs. 4.20 crore along with a band of domestic talent.

Expectations for IPL 2024

As PBKS prepares for IPL 2024, there is optimism surrounding the team’s prospects. With a revamped squad and strategic acquisitions, they aim to mount a strong challenge for playoff qualification and beyond.

PBKS probable playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Prabhsimran Singh, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran, Rishi Dhawan/ Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh.
