Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), IPL 2025: A poor batting display, or poor captaincy, which made Sunrisers Hyderabad so vulnerable last night (April 6) against Gujarat Titans? After the match, former Indian international Mohammad Kaif dives deep to dig into the reason behind SRH's lackluster performance in the ongoing IPL 2025.

Kaif shared a video analyzing the SRH vs. GT match and observed some captaincy errors by the SRH skipper Pat Cummins, which resulted in another defeat. According to Kaif, Abhishek Sharma bowling Sherfane Rutherford did not make sense because Rutherford is a specialist T20 batter, and on the other hand , Sharma is mainly a batter who occasionally can bowl. The former Indian cricketer also pointed out the bowling combination with which Hyderabad was up to face the in-form Gujarat Titans. Cummins used 7 different bowlers to defend 152; among those seven bowlers, only Mohammed Shami and captain Cummins himself had put in some effective deliveries to make the match more intense.

Shami took out Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, and Australian pacer cleared Jos Buttler. This was not enough to defend a small total like 152. From the Hyderabad base side, it was only the two bowlers who clinched wickets; the remaining 5 players who bowled spent runs with open arms. Simarjeet Singh bowled only one over and offered 20 runs. Kamindu Mendis also bowled an over and gave 12. Jaydev Unadkat and Zeeshan Ansari bowled but remained ineffective.

Kaif raised multiple questions related to SRH performance

"People said Mendis can bowl equally with both his arms; he bowled only one over. Against Lucknow Super Giants, Abhishek Sharma came for bowling against Nicholas Pooran and now against Rutherford. Singh was so expensive. What's wrong with Pat Cummins? Did he go out of his mind? Who will bowl for SRH, and what are the other 9 players doing for the team?" Md. Kaif raised a question. Sunrisers Hyderabad after their 5 games, sitting at the bottom of the points table with only 2 points. Out of the 5, they emerged as a winning team on only one occasion. Next, SRH will lock horns with Punjab Kings on April 12 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
